The Cookiepedia

August 25, 2011 by Julie 66 Comments

My dad had a dinner meeting this evening, so my mom, sister and I used his absence as an excuse not to cook.

Chipotle burrito bowls for everyone!

With pork and guacamole, puh-lease!

Unfortunately Chipotle still has yet to add my fantastic menu item brainchild, the Chipurro, to their selection. C’mon guys. Get your act together.

The Cookiepedia

Since I didn’t do any cooking at dinnertime, I found myself in the mood to play around in the kitchen after we were done eating.

A couple of weeks ago I was sent The Cookiepedia by Stacy Adimando to review.

The Cookiepedia

My sister and I were big-time fans of the overall design of the book. It had a vintage feel and was just plain cute!

Wouldn’t it make a wonderful bridal shower gift?

I think the images in this book would also make adorable prints. Very Etsy-ish…. and you know I love Etsy. (I miss my wedding planning days when I would spend hours on Etsy looking for inspirational ideas! I even bought my veil from an Etsy retailer. Remember the “Psycho Bride” story? Oh, the good ol’ days…)

I wanted to make some yummy cookies to send to a friend and when I stumbled upon the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink cookies, I was sold!

After creaming the butter and the sugar and adding in vanilla, eggs and flour, we had some faaantastic dough on our hands.

The cookies call for a cup of sweet mix-ins and a cup and a half of salty mix-ins of your choice.

I had a great time selecting my mix-ins and in the end went with:

  • White chocolate chips
  • Semisweet chocolate chips
  • Chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • Chopped pecans
  • Crushed pretzel thins

After 16 minutes in the oven, we had freshly baked cookies on our hands!

I love cookies with lots of stuff crammed in them! After I boxed a bunch up for my friend, my mom, sister and I went to town and ate ourselves into sugar comas.

The only cure for a sugar coma? Bed.

Okay, not really. We figured it would be a good idea to take Sadie on a nice 30 minute walk to settle our stomachs and get a little exercise after downing lots of dough.

I think she was more than happy to serve as our excuse to get out of the house and enjoy the fresh (but still hotter than Hades) air.

And now it really is time for bed. After Jersey Shore, of course. Winking smile

your posts always make me smile and Sadie is just amazing. she needs to write her own blog. lol btw cereal issues = amazingness. Yes, I have the same problem. Cereal is my weakness and one bowl is hardly enough. Sometimes three doesn’t even cut it. Glad to know I’m not alone with my cereal addiction.

OK so this may be a stupid question but I figured why not just ask! What is the best way to send cookies, or any baked goods,to a friend? Would you just pack them up in a sealed tupperware and put them in a box?

That cookbook looks adorable and creative. Those kitchen sink cookies remind me of some that Heather of Hangry Pants makes. I actually won one of her giveaways and she sent me a batch. Loved the mixture of salty, sweet, crunchy, soft! Mmm…

It’s not so much about not wanting to help as it is about not wanting to be punished for what they’d done to him.. They weren’t even “punishing” him for anything.. They just wanted to flat out murder him in the worst way possible.. Even if it’s proven that either one of them has any kind of “syndrome” they should be executed for the sheer brutality and cruelty of what they did to that poor little boy.. His big ears.. his blonde spikey hair.. those glasses looking a bit oversized on his little face.. He looked so small.. I cant imagine inflicting that sort of pain on an animal let alone a such a small and fragile looking human being.. and her own baby at that (I dont care how old a kid is, I always refer to children as “babies” until they’re at least four.. You know “Where’s the baby?” “how’s the baby?” “Aww, c’mon?? .. I know they’re a baby but one cookie isn’t gonna hurt em??” etc.. I’m an auntie and a sucker for pouty little moochers while I’m eating junk food.. lol )..
