Things I’m Loving Friday #59

November 14, 2014 by Julie 69 Comments

It’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time for Things I’m Loving Friday!

As always, there are lots of things I’m loving this week that I will detail below (please share your Friday favorites in the comments section!), but, without a doubt my favorite thing this week has been spending time with my sister! Leslie arrived in town late Wednesday night for a meeting and we both worked through the early afternoon yesterday but then I got to scoop her up and bring her with me to yesterday’s Girls On The Run practice.

Girls On The Run Coaches

(For the Instagram inquires, my pullover is from Stitch Fix and the brand is Loveappella!)

I loved introducing Leslie to our team and the girls loved meeting my sister. She did a great job adding a lot of spunk and energy to yesterday’s practice… even if she was quite chilly the whole time. Cold weather arrived in Charlotte yesterday and this morning it is in the upper 30s! Brrr!

Leslie is leaving Saturday evening (she has a bridal shower to attend on Sunday morning), but we are planning to make the most of these next two days together. Hooray for sister time!

And now let’s delve into your usual Friday post…  Have a great weekend, my friends!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • 95 Year Old Sadie

old vizsla

I’m pretty sure Sadie looks like she’s lived 1,000 lives in this picture my sister snapped of her all curled up in bed this morning. (Can you tell Sadie doesn’t do well with a house that is trying to save money on heat?) I love my crazy pup so much and new little white hairs seem to pop up on her sweet face every day that I still refuse to take as signs of aging. You’re only as old as you feel, right? I’m pretty sure Sadie feels like she’s a chipper 8 months old, so we’re good to go.

  • Persimmons

persimmon

When I was in Jacksonville a few weeks ago, my sister’s husband had all of us try the most delicious persimmons he got from a coworker’s garden. They were so tasty and unique and ever since then, I’ve been picking up a few at the grocery store each week.

  • Fabletics Hipster Briefs

fabletics underwear

This athletic underwear was a total impulse buy! I went on the Fabletics website to order a pair of their awesome Salar leggings in black (I have them in dark purple and love them) and ended up adding the hipster briefs to my cart because they looked super comfy and the reviews said you couldn’t see a visible panty line when wearing them with leggings. Sign me up! They are so soft and comfortable and don’t ride up when I wear them with leggings to Pure Barre. I’m a fan!

  • Hope Shinz Lip Gloss

Hope Shinz

My mom, sister, aunt and I all bought different colors of this lip gloss when we were together at the Shine Women’s Conference at my sister’s church a few weeks ago. The Serving Team Director at the church owns the company and everyone was going crazy at their booth testing out the various colors and glosses. I walked away with a tube of the Luxury Gloss in Vivid Dream and have been absolutely loving it ever since. It’s thicker and adds more color than typical lip gloss (this is a good thing for me since I have very pale lips!) and it lasts for much longer than most lip glosses I’ve tried. It reminds me a lot of the more higher-end designer lip glosses I’ve tried in the past, but without the price tag! A big-time bonus: The ingredients in the gloss are “responsibly sourced, ethically created and never tested on animals.”

  • Target Holiday Candles

Target Candles

The holiday season is officially upon us which means I cannot resist buying a few new seasonal candles. I popped into Target last weekend and left with some new scents, including a peppermint sage candle (love!) and a few wonderful-smelling candles from the three dollar bin, including the Fresh Snow scent you see blazing above. I can’t get enough!

Question of the Day

Yay for sister time! My sister lives almost 8 hours away now, and when we do get to see each other I imagine our excitement is very similar! I think a target trip is in my near future for those candles. Always looking for new ones to try for the holidays! Thanks, Julie!

I spent a good 5 minutes smelling all the different $3 candles at Target the other day – I can’t wait to pick some up once it’s officially “winter” (aka Thanksgiving is over). Until then, it’s all pumpkin and apple scents in this house!

Oh man, a trip to Target is on my weekend list, so that means I’ll probably (definitely) buy one of those candles. My 13 y/o puppy has gone gray too and it’s so cute. Only difference from Sadie is that my Bella definitely acts like an old lady!

I think Sadie needs a dog snuggie! 🙂 Not evening joking! My friend’s dog loves it. I have been in a real candle burning mode lately, everyday from about 4pm to 7pm….I think it sets the mood for when hubby arrives home from work, and kids are settling in…Anything like sugar cookie, buttercream frosting….so yummy! Enjoy your sister’s visit.

Oooh, I need to check those fabletics undies out… I love me some leggings but panty lines not so much!
One of my faves this week is the vicious varnish lip gloss lip stains from Wet N Wild (the Fergie ones), they were an impulse but at $1.50 on sale and though the gloss smells AWFUL, the stain it leaves behind is so gorgeous and stays for hours. At that price, I’ll deal with the smell!

They have the perfect compression and their thick for my winter runs – I’ll be training for a marathon this winter, so I was very excited to find the perfect leggings for that! My sister and I live 4 hours away from each other now and we miss each other like crazy! What I’m loving this week is a road trip with my husband to go visit her and her fiance. We plan to go out to dinner, watch college football, just hang out!
When we were in college, we started the tradition of having “sister days” because we didn’t live near each other and wanted to make the most of any time together. We still do this and our most recent one was last month – we went out for breakfast and had mimosas, did some shopping at Marshall’s (our favorite), saw a matinee showing of Gone Girl, got pedicures, and then went out for milkshakes – so fun! We plan to do a “Sister Day – Holiday Edition” next month and get some serious Christmas shopping done.
Enjoy your time with Leslie…sisters are the best!! 🙂
