Things I’m Loving Friday XIV

January 3, 2014 by Julie 121 Comments

It’s time for another Things I’m Loving Friday!!! Lots of things are making me smile this week, but below you will find a few highlights.

As always, please feel free to play along in the comments section!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • Old CDs

Old CDs

A week or so ago, I started digging through my old CDs looking for music to upload to my iPod to use in my group exercise classes. I unleashed a monster because now I cannot stop listening to throwback CDs I loved in high school. I used to listen to the Sister Act II soundtrack almost every morning while I got ready (“Oh Happy Day” is one of my all-time favorite songs) and I’ve been loving some of the mixed CDs my friends burned for me years ago. So many memories!!!

  • Hydration Lock 8 Hour Chap Stick

8 hour chapstick

This winner came to me in my first Birchbox! I figured it would be just like any other Chap Stick, but it really does keep my lips feeling smooth and hydrated for so much longer than typical lip balm. I wish I had this baby with me when I was in NYC a few weeks ago!

  • Scandal

Scandal

My mom and I are 100 percent obsessed with this show. Thanks to Netflix we were able to marathon watch past seasons over the holidays. Each episode seems to have its own mini mystery and I’m such a fan!

  • Family Recipes

Family Recipes

I’ve fallen into the habit of making the same dishes for dinner over and over again and in an effort to bust out of my rut, I have a goal of attempting a new recipe twice a week. I’ve started going through our recipe box to test out family favorites and I’ve had a lot of fun trying recipes our family and friends sent to me over the years. Lots of delicious winners!

  • Infinity Scarves

Infinity Scarf

I cannot get enough of them! Infinity scarves are my go-to accessory during the winter months. So cozy! For those who asked about the above scarf a few times, I bought it a couple of years ago at the Banana Republic Outlet and cannot find it online anymore, but here are a few infinity scarves I found that I think are super cute: Banana Republic shaker stitch infinity scarf, Aldo calla knit infinity scarf (<—love the delicate look of this woven scarf!), Aldo classic gray infinity scarf, Old Navy honeycomb stich infinity scarf (<— Four color options – I love the cream – and you can save 15% on clearance by using the code ONSAVENOW)

  • UCF

UCF Fiesta Bowl

UCF Graduation

I am so, so happy for my alma mater. The Knights took home a big victory on New Year’s Day at the Fiesta Bowl and since it sometimes feels like people only care about two colleges in Florida, I couldn’t help but feel extremely happy for this milestone for UCF. I remember attending football games when I was in college during the season when we went 0-11. We’ve come a long way and I am so proud!

  • Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Amy, the winner of the Benefiber $100 American Express gift card! Amy said, “I had vegetable stir fry with brown rice!” She was emailed this morning!

Finding old cd’s is the best!! We were digging out our storage closest day earlier this week and found a thing of my husband’s original playstation games. It was almost as exciting as finding those classic “Mario” games! LOVE infinity scarves! That one is super cute! I love wearing them with wide neck shirts so I don’t have to worry about my straps showing all day at work 🙂 I’m currently loving my Tervis cups, they’re helping me drink tons more water throughout the day!

I got an infinity scarf for Christmas. It’s a bright magenta color that’s so cheery for this time of year. I am a fan of the TV show Revenge. I am looking forward to a new episode on Sunday night!

I’m also loving my strawberry flavored carmex. My lips are in serious need of lip balm. It was -19 outside this morning! Brrr 🙂

Just finished all the episodes of Scandal that are on Netflicks … I got hooked! I use to work on political campaigns so I loved that aspects of it and who cannot love Olivia Pope and her CLOTHES! Sometimes that got a bit gory for me, and when my husband is on nights I had trouble sleeping haha … but I loved it!

I am obsessed with infinity scarves. I’ve been turning my other scarves with fringe edges into infinity scarves by tying some of the fringe together. Then it loops like an infinity scarf and I just tuck the fringe into the folds! Love!

I feel like I’m the only one who isn’t on the Scandal train yet! I may need to set that up on my iPad and watch it on the treadmill haha.

Also, I love family recipes. My MIL hand wrote a bunch of recipe cards with my husbands favorite recipes and gave it to me during one of my bridal showers. It was one of my favorite gifts!

Just finished all of Breaking Bad on New Year’s Eve. Great way to close out 2013 haha. The show is one of my favorites of all time but I did struggle to watch it sometimes, because it’s a bit disturbing.

My current show of choice is Suits and I’m really looking forward to House of Cards returning in February.

I’m really loving snow these days..that will probably last a couple more weeks and then I’ll be missing summer!

I am seriously loving books, even more than normal, and I’ve been finding new authors/series to start reading. My ‘Must-read’ list is piling up! Here in Michigan, the temperature is getting into the negatives and we only go outside when we have to. Sunday is suppose to be negative 8 degrees and I love being able to get under a warm blanket and get lost in a book for hours. Sometimes I can even finish 2-3 books a day depending how involved I get with it.

When I was 15/16 I actually made a CD each month counting down the 12 months until I could go for my driver’s license lol They were titled “12 months, 11 months, 10 months, etc.” I still have them and listening to them always makes me smile!

I am not a registered dietitian. My blog is simply a documentation of my life. The views I express are mine alone, based on my own experiences, and should not be taken as medical advice. I DO NOT post everything I eat. Though I am a certified personal trainer, the workouts I post may not be right for you.
