Tiki Hut Happy Hour

June 17, 2011 by Julie 30 Comments

What better way to kick off the weekend than happy hour at a tiki hut bar on a lake?

After Ryan got off work, we drove out to Clermont to meet up with a bunch of his colleagues for happy hour at the Tiki Bar & Grill.

tiki bar clermont 013The bar was located outside which had everybody sweating like crazy (it was 98 degrees!), but the view made up for the heat.

tiki bar clermont 009 Eventually we got hungry and decided to order dinner. When I walked up to the Tiki Bar, I saw a chalkboard sign announcing a new addition to the menu, a Portobello burger.

My interest was piqued!

For bar food, I was quite impressed!

Not too shabby!

After dinner, we ventured out onto the dock before for a bit before hanging out at the bar for another hour or so. Eventually the heat did us in and we headed out. It was a fun night and I’m glad I got a chance to catch up with some of Ryan’s coworkers. I haven’t seen most of them since the charity bowl-a-thon back in March.

We’re takin’ it easy for the rest of the night. It feels good to have a weekend with a relatively free agenda!

Mmm, a Portobello burger. I’ve always wanted to try one, but my hubby is a meat-man, and a burger without meat isn’t a burger at all. I might try a sneak attack one of these days…

I always wish I loved mushrooms because portobello burgers are a mainstay on so many BBQ menus! Hope you have a great start to your weekend!

Love portobello burgers! That’s my meat-substitute of choice when my family grills up cow burgers.

Did you know the best way to keep the bottom of the bun in tact while eating a burger is to put it down on your plate upside down between bites? Apparently since the top bun is bigger it can take it better! Haha.

Oh my, the things you can learn on youtube!

I have been reading your blog for months now and have to finally comment because I am moving to Clermont tomorrow morning! (meaning I should be sleeping considering the movers will be here at 8:) ). My boyfriend and I will have to check this place out ASAP.

I have been looking over your posts about things to do in and around Orlando and I am SO excited to be moving there. I can’t wait to start finding my way around the area. Thanks for having such an awesome blog, I look forward to reading everyday!

That burger looks so meaty and juicy, and perfectly charred! I much prefer it when the vegetarian option is a portabello mushroom burger as opposed to one made from soy mince!

I’m a fan of the mushroom/beef swap, but the mushroom burger oozes mushroom juice everywhere and I’m not a fan of that! Outside happy hours are the best. Too bad it’s winter in my neck of the woods

I’ve actually never tried a portobello burger! I love mushrooms, but always think that just a large mushroom won’t fill me up. Yours looks awesome though 🙂

Ok, I’m only going to tell you this because 1) I just learned this and 2) you just taught me how to correctly say Brushetta. 🙂

My annoying friend that always corrects me informed me that it is “your interest is piqued” and not “your interest is peaked.”

Normally, I wouldn’t ever correct anything but I was just SO HAPPY to see an fellow writer/editor think it was “peak” too! 🙂

    Have a great weeknd!
