Travel Begins

June 9, 2011 by Julie 47 Comments

Hello from St. Pete!

After work today, Ryan, Sadie and I drove to my parents’ house in St. Pete to spend the night. My family will be watching Sadie for the next three days while Ryan and I head out for a three-day vacation to Jekyll Island, Georgia. We are both really looking forward to some time away together.

In the month of May, between my trip to Europe and Ryan’s hiking trip, we were only together for one week of the entire month. I’m so glad that neither of us have big plans to be away from each other for at least two months. I kinda like having him around. Winking smile Plus, we have some really exciting activities planned in Jekyll Island, so I can’t wait for our adventures to begin!

Dinner

Ryan and I arrived in St. Pete ready for dinner!

On the menu for this evening was sloppy joes with roasted asparagus and fruit salad.

I had a second helping of the meat and fruit salad and naturally still had room for dessert. My parents always keep a variety of ice cream flavors on hand, so I scooped myself a little bowl to enjoy after dinner.

You didn’t think I ‘d be satisfied with one bowl did you? Ice cream is like cereal to me. I need at least three bowls to adequately get my fill. It’s a little ridiculous. And a little delicious.

After dinner we spent a good two hours sitting at the dinner table just catching up while the rain was pouring outside. I love being home with my family. They’re a good bunch!

I’m off to bed. I have ambitions to awake nice and early to get in a workout before we hit the road.

Sleep well, friends!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I have already tried so many of your recipes and look forward to your posts everyday! When I saw your post tonight about Jekyll Island I just had to leave you a comment. My family has been vacationing there for well over 20 years and we will be there in 2 weeks! I hope you and Ryan enjoy it as much as we do…although we will have our 2 young boys with us so I’m sure your vacation will be much more relaxing!!!

I love Jekyll Island! I’m from Seattle and it’s randomly one of the only places I’ve been to on the East Coast! I traveled with my dad’s girlfriend to St. Simon’s Island for her son’s wedding, which is so cute, by the way. Since I wasn’t invited to the wedding, I spent the day on Jekyll Island by myself. Have fun!!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend is on the horizon! Much more so than if you were visiting Hyde Island (chuckling at your own literary references is cool, right?)

Those sloppy joes just may have inspired my meal plan for this weekend! Yumbo, and oh so easy.
