Week of Workouts: September 2025

October 1, 2025 by Julie 4 Comments

I’m squeezing in this blog post right as September is coming to a close but still wanted to document what a week of workouts looks like over here lately, as I’ve missed the past few months and had a few gentle nudges from you guys to bring it back! So let’s dive in! As usual, you’ll see a focus on strength training as it’s forever and always my favorite way to work out.

I did almost every workout at home last week as we had teacher workdays to navigate and sometimes working up a sweat at home is the easiest option, though I definitely missed Burn Boot Camp workouts last week!

Week of Workouts: September 2025

  • Monday: Glutes + Delts

On Monday morning, I completed a workout with two separate blocks: One that focused on my glutes and the other that targeted my shoulders. This format made the workout fly by and honestly helped me work a little harder since each block was rather short and over fairly quickly.

Extra movement: 3 mile walk with Pepper

  • Tuesday: Biceps, Triceps and Back Workout

If you stopped by the blog last week and caught my day in the life post, you may remember this one! I did this workout while Ryder hung out with me and his company made it all the more enjoyable. (Working out with a 7-year-old companion still allows for a decent workout, something that feels like a pipedream when you try to work out with a toddler. Just a little encouragement that home workouts get a little easier as kids get a little bigger!) Tuesday’s workout centered around supersets which helped with timing and kept my workout time right around 40 minutes.

Extra movement: 2 mile walk with Pepper

  • Wednesday: Rest

No workout for me on Wednesday! Time just didn’t allow for it, as I needed my early morning pre-kid wakeup time to work and then the boys’ school time was consumed by my first mammogram and another meeting.

Extra movement: 2 mile walk with Pepper

  • Thursday: Leg Day Workout

For Thursday’s workout, I did a throwback leg day workout from the blog but decreased the reps from 15 to 10-12 for each exercise with heavier weight. It was a good one that left my legs feeling strong but fatigued by the end.

  • Friday: Athletic Performance Upper Body & Core (Madeline Moves)

Any Madeline Moves fans out there? I’ve seen my friend Brittany share her love for Madeline Moves workouts forever and finally decided to give them a shot through her current Tighter Together 5-week challenge. I registered for the challenge on Thursday (it officially started Monday) and completed one of the workouts as a preview on Thursday just because it called to me and looked fun! The workout is part of a paid app/challenge so to respect Madeline and her team’s time and effort I don’t feel comfortable sharing it in its entirety here, but it incorporated mobility work, power, strength and coordination components which I love for long-term/longevity benefits.

Extra movement: 2 mile walk to park with the boys on their scooters

  • Saturday: Jetset Pilates

On Saturday, I joined some of my friends for a Pilates workout at Jetset Pilates, a new Pilates studio in the area. It basically felt like a 50-minute core burn with a little bit of time spent on lower body and upper body. I’m told Jetset workouts vary a lot but our Saturday workout was certainly core focused!

Extra movement: 1.5 mile walk to nearby trails with the whole crew where the boys rode their dirt bikes

  • Sunday: 3 Mile Trail Walk

After church on Sunday, we drove to some local trails where the boys rode their bikes for a little over three miles while Ryan and I followed behind. The weather was gorgeous on Sunday and we loved taking full advantage of the not-too-hot sunshine with some outside time on the trails we love.

Question of the Day

What does your workout routine look like these days?

Thank you for sharing this! I currently have two young boys (a 4 yo and 2yo) and I’ve been feeling discouraged that 2-3 workouts a week seems to be the max that I can achieve at the moment. I feel hopeful that this won’t always be the case as my boys get older!

You’re doing GREAT and it’s such a tough season with little ones!! Truly ANY workout is a victory but I totally get how easy it can be to feel discouraged. It’s a million times easier for me to work out now (esp from home when the boys are awake) than it was even 1-2 years ago. <3 I promise it will get easier sooner than you think. Sending you love and encouragement this morning!
