Pinterest Workout

August 25, 2011 by Julie 110 Comments

Last night I spent a good 30 minutes on Pinterest. I initially went on the site to help my sister find some pictures for a slideshow she’s putting together for work, but as any of my fellow pinners out there know, you can’t spend less than five minutes on the site.

Before I knew it, I was pinning away and lusting after this necklace…

(Yes, I totally added that hyperlink to make it easy for one special and handsome husband to find.)

I also fell in love with these boots…

boots

(At just under $500 dollars, they are a steal! Winking smile Hyperlink added for the benefit of you ballin’ ladies out there… AKA not me.)

And then I laughed at this little cartoon and emailed it to Ryan because who doesn’t love a little dino love?

One thing I did not  expect to find on Pinterest? Workout ideas!

Once I stumbled upon a neat workout idea on the site, I started searching for more and felt inspired to try one of the workouts I pinned at the gym this morning.

Workout

Today’s workout began with the upper body workout I found on Pinterest which comes from the Tone it Up site:

tone it up girls arm workout

(Source)

Cool huh?

It was a super fast workout, but the combination of the push ups and the back-to-back planks got me sweating right off the bat. Phew!

Since I finished the pyramid workout pretty quickly, I added some more strength training exercises to my workout and completed three sets of the 15 repetitions of the following exercises:

  • Tricep pulldowns
  • Bicep curls
  • Ryan’s awesome shoulder move
  • Leg extensions
  • Bridges (2 min. non-stop total)
  • Hamstring curls
  • One-legged leg extensions
  • Crunches on exercise ball

I rounded out my workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Now it’s 2 p.m. and I still haven’t had lunch. I’ve been snacking through the morning (pretzel crisps and peanut butter, why are you so addicting?) and I haven’t felt hungry until just now. Off to fix myself a plate!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Have you ever found workout inspiration from an unexpected source?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I can’t wait until Target decides to create a version of those boots 😉

I need to sign up for Pinterest!! But I am sure I will spend WAY too much time finding things I like…and convince myself I need. I absolutely LOVE those Tory Burch boots. Ahhh if only I marry a millionaire ;).

I also just heard about the Tone It Up Girls! Definitely need to look into their workouts. My mom just got “Insanity” eek! Can’t wait to try it out!

As you can probably tell, I’m a new blogger! But I’ve been looking on your blog for a while. I love it and read it everyday!!

I love finding workout inspiration by looking at other people’s circuits at the gym! Other people are a lot more creative than me, and it’s good to see if they have a new take on using the same old machine I use.

And… I love the Tone It Up girls! I actually did that workout quite often back in the spring as part of their “Bikini Series”. They have nice little add-ons to regular workouts. I think they’re actually working on a “Back to School/Fall Series” dealio that I’m looking forward to!

I’ve heard of pintrest but I don’t really understand what it is, like a foodgawker for everything? Also, do you wait till you’re hungry after a workout or do you just eat right after to make sure you refuel in time?

okay thanks! I always do as well, I either shower depending if I’m super hungry or not. I find I’m not that hungry after a hard workout till a bit after. However, I always hear to eat when you are hungry but then other people say to make sure you refeul because you don’t want your body to take away from your muscles, ect. I think that is more for people who are training for races though.

Hi there! Just discovered your blog thanks to Pinterest, through the upper body workout pyramid.
I was wondering, since you tried the workout: is it OK for people who want to tone as well as have thinner arms? I’m on a weith-loss plan this summer, and my arms need toning, but I’m not sure if toning them will also make them thinner, or if I have to lose weight and then tone them?
    Thanks a lot !
