Pinterest Workout

Last night I spent a good 30 minutes on Pinterest. I initially went on the site to help my sister find some pictures for a slideshow she’s putting together for work, but as any of my fellow pinners out there know, you can’t spend less than five minutes on the site.

Before I knew it, I was pinning away and lusting after this necklace

(Yes, I totally added that hyperlink to make it easy for one special and handsome husband to find.)

I also fell in love with these boots

(At just under $500 dollars, they are a steal! Winking smile Hyperlink added for the benefit of you ballin’ ladies out there… AKA not me.)

And then I laughed at this little cartoon and emailed it to Ryan because who doesn’t love a little dino love?

One thing I did not  expect to find on Pinterest? Workout ideas!

Once I stumbled upon a neat workout idea on the site, I started searching for more and felt inspired to try one of the workouts I pinned at the gym this morning.

Today’s workout began with the upper body workout I found on Pinterest which comes from the Tone it Up site:

tone it up girls arm workout

Cool huh?

It was a super fast workout, but the combination of the push ups and the back-to-back planks got me sweating right off the bat. Phew!

Since I finished the pyramid workout pretty quickly, I added some more strength training exercises to my workout and completed three sets of the 15 repetitions of the following exercises:

I rounded out my workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Now it’s 2 p.m. and I still haven’t had lunch. I’ve been snacking through the morning (pretzel crisps and peanut butter, why are you so addicting?) and I haven’t felt hungry until just now. Off to fix myself a plate!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Have you ever found workout inspiration from an unexpected source?

  1. Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says

I get workout ideas sometimes from watching reality TV, weird as that is. It was how I first got started with yoga and pilates. Of course, I didn’t have the fancy reformers and stuff they used, but who needs them anyway?

  2. says

OMG, I’m seriously addicted to Pinterest. I’ve been doing it at work too (bad Amy!). There’s just so many categories, it’s impossible to stop. The inventor of these site is a serious genius.

  3. says

Haha healthy living blogs give me inspiration, and when I first discovered them it was definitely unexpected!

Who knew reading people’s online diaries would get me to want to work out and try to start running? 😉

  4. says

Those boots are BEAUTIFUL. Ahh I wish I had $500 to spend on shoes, haha.

Before getting into healthy living blogs I always found tons of workout ideas through Have you ever used that website? If so, what’s better? Pinterest or stumbleupon?

  5. says

I forwarded the boots to my mom. Her response? I’m sorry, I must of missed the memo when we won the lottery 🙂 I’ve never been on Pintrest, but I’ve heard it’s addicting. I’m going to try to avoid it as long as possible!!

  6. says

Pinterest is a worm hole. I am thoroughly convinced. How else can 45 minutes go by in the blink of an eye?!! I have loved finding workouts/motivation there as well (pinned several of the Tone It Up girls videos too). Gotta love it.

  7. Kristin @ STUFT Mama says

I have yet to dive into Pinterest. I’m scared. 🙂 Sometimes my twins give me ideas when they roam the house with my exercise bands. ha!

  8. says

That necklace is so cute! I love it! Oh, and those boots, I love them! They are adorable yet look comfy at the same time. I don’t know if they are worth $500 though. That is expensive for boots. One can dream 😉

  9. Kathy says

OMG, those Tori Burch boots brought a tear to my eye… they are amazing.. I just bought a pair of “Hunter” boots, so I guess I will have to admire the TB ones from afar..*sigh*

  10. Ann says

Pretzels and peanut butter are the most addicting snack!! I once bought a big jar of peanut butter stuffed pretzels from Sam’s and finished it in less than a month! 🙂 Those boots are SUPER cute!

  13. says

Oh my goodness! I just laughed out loud at my desk when I saw that dinosaur drawing. SO cute, reminds me of this book they have at Urban Outfitters that I look at every time I go there…”All My Friends are Dead,” complete with a sad sad little dino on the front cover. Sad and hilarious all rolled into one lovely package.

I also love the necklace and boots. Big time!!! Bookmarking both! And checking out the Tone It Up girls, too…I’ve been hearing a lot about them lately.

  14. says

Ooh the custom initial BRACELET is also cute… I tried getting one of those wire full name necklaces off a vendor on the streets in SF (my friend recommended the EXACT corner to find the wire master lady), but she wasn’t there 🙁

  15. says

How awesome! I never knew Pinterest had workout ideas either. I definitely am going to try that pyramid workout one of these days.

That little dinosaur cartoon is cute. That’s totally something I’d send my hubby too. 🙂

  19. says

I need to sign up for Pinterest!! But I am sure I will spend WAY too much time finding things I like…and convince myself I need. I absolutely LOVE those Tory Burch boots. Ahhh if only I marry a millionaire ;).

I also just heard about the Tone It Up Girls! Definitely need to look into their workouts. My mom just got “Insanity” eek! Can’t wait to try it out!

As you can probably tell, I’m a new blogger! But I’ve been looking on your blog for a while. I love it and read it everyday!!

  20. says

I love finding workout inspiration by looking at other people’s circuits at the gym! Other people are a lot more creative than me, and it’s good to see if they have a new take on using the same old machine I use.

  21. dana a. says

  22. Aimoree says

I actually saw those boots on Pinterest a few days ago and ogled them for a good 10 minutes. Shopping porn, I swear.

And… I love the Tone It Up girls! I actually did that workout quite often back in the spring as part of their “Bikini Series”. They have nice little add-ons to regular workouts. I think they’re actually working on a “Back to School/Fall Series” dealio that I’m looking forward to!

  23. Lorin says

I’ve heard of pintrest but I don’t really understand what it is, like a foodgawker for everything? Also, do you wait till you’re hungry after a workout or do you just eat right after to make sure you refuel in time?

      • Lorin says

okay thanks! I always do as well, I either shower depending if I’m super hungry or not. I find I’m not that hungry after a hard workout till a bit after. However, I always hear to eat when you are hungry but then other people say to make sure you refeul because you don’t want your body to take away from your muscles, ect. I think that is more for people who are training for races though.

  24. Megan says

I saw those boots on pinterest too!! My mom and i wear the same size shoe and I’m trying to talk get into sharing them with me, she can take the left foot I will take the right!! Haha

  25. Kelsey says

This workout is amazing! I love it. I did it last night when I somehow got a surge of energy and felt great after. Its easy, its simple and its the perfect quick workout when you don’t really have the time to make it to the gym. i feel like I no longer have any excuse to not get at least a little workout in everyday. WOOT

  30. Sarah says

Hi there! Just discovered your blog thanks to Pinterest, through the upper body workout pyramid.
I was wondering, since you tried the workout: is it OK for people who want to tone as well as have thinner arms? I’m on a weith-loss plan this summer, and my arms need toning, but I’m not sure if toning them will also make them thinner, or if I have to lose weight and then tone them?
    Thanks a lot !
