The Perfect Pear

September 28, 2009 by Julie 10 Comments

It’s no secret that I think Greek yogurt may be one of the world’s most perfect breakfast foods. Not only is it ridiculously creamy, but it’s full of satiating protein that really keeps me satisfied until my mid-morning snack.

Today's Breakfast

Today's Breakfast

I was thrilled when Oikos contacted me and sent me a wonderful package in the mail with coupons to try their yogurt. I usually stick to plain Greek yogurt, but with the coupons I also purchased honey and blueberry which I cannot wait to try.

Thank You Oikos!

Thank You Oikos!

This morning I topped a plain Oikos organic Greek yogurt with a handful of Kashi Go Lean cereal and a package of Brothers-All-Natural Asian Pear crisps.

The Goods

The pear crisps were the perfect addition to the Greek yogurt and added a sweet crunch to the thick mixture.

The crips are 100 percent freeze dried Asian pear (nothing else!) and each packet contains approximately 1 1/2 pears. At only 40 calories a pack, I’m in love!

The breakfast was complete with a hot mug of Yogi Goji Berry Green Tea.

This breakfast was a great start to a new week. I actually like Monday mornings because I often fill my belly with more treats on the weekends (hello peppermint Oreo dessert!), and I like getting back to healthier eating.

Question: What is your favorite part about Mondays?

    I love Crisps!

I am a big fan of Mondays too. It is sort of nice to get back to my usual routine of eating well since the weekends are usually not so perfect.

Where can I purchase these fabulous pear chips? Also – I’ve never tried greek yogurt, how does it compare to regular yogurt?

hey mer! 🙂 i stole them from my mom’s house… she bought them at costco though. hope you can find ’em! they also have other flavors… the apple crisps are tasty too! greek yogurt is a lot thicker than regular yogurt… i LOVE it. it can taste a little bitter & is definitely not as sugary as regular yogurt, so you may need to sweeten it to enjoy it (i know i do)!

I love the Blueberry Oiko’s so good! My favorite part about Monday’s is my morning workout. The gym isn’t too busy and I can get all the weights I need with no one in the way!

I love the “new start” feeling Mondays bring to the table…oh and my current TV guilty pleasure The Rachel Zoe Project comes on tonight :o)

PS-I am excited to eat my veggie wrap today!!! I made the sauce last night. I am also adding black olives and avocado slices, yum yum!

I’ve just started reading your blog from spotting it on Pinterest & I LOVE your yummy food tips!! I’ve noticed your love for Greek yogurt. I am a big fan myself & I love the protein bost, but I worry about the high amounts of sugar that some of the flavored kinds have (especially my beloved strawberry!). Do you find that plain Greek yogurt has less sugar? Or are there any particular brands that have less than usual amounts of sugar?
