A Pear Through and Through

February 24, 2010 by Julie 33 Comments

At the grocery store on Sunday, Ryan picked up a jar of Emeril’s roasted gaaahlic pasta sauce.

Gaaahlic Pasta Sauce

Woo-wee! This pasta sauce is like a garlic explosion in your mouth. It’s so garlicy that it’s almost spicy!

I like it, but I don’t love it and probably wouldn’t buy it again. Still, it added a nice punch of flavor to my pasta bowl for lunch today.

Pasta Bowl

Oh, Hello There, Zucchini

Yummy Noodles

My noodle bowl included:

  • Carba Nada egg fettuccine noodles
  • Roasted gaaahlic pasta sauce
  • Portobello mushrooms
  • Roasted zucchini
  • Parmesan cheese (of course)

For dessert I enjoyed a cuppa sugar-free strawberry Jello.

Fruitful Bodies

When I purchased by wedding dress on Saturday, I inevitably had to be measured to ensure we ordered the proper size gown.

I’ve always been smaller up top and had a boot-ay and hips (the definition of a “pear” body shape).

My Body, In Fruit-Form

Since I’m such a pear, I wasn’t surprised to find out that I needed a split-size dress… but I didn’t realize just how split the size would be.

My dress size was broken down into three segments: bust, waist and hip size.

I actually have three whole sizes between my bust/waist size and my hip size… And get this: I actually ended up ordering the bottom of my dress in a size size larger than recommended because my dress is more form-fitting and I want it to be more A-line and flowy. I don’t want my dress to cup my booty, so there is a four dress size difference between the top half of my dress and the bottom half. Wow-zaa!

What fruit body shape are you? An apple (carries weight in the middle)? A pear (carries weight in the hips and butt)? A banana (straight up and down)?

I’m an apple, no doubt! Big old round middle, with skinny legs and arms 🙂

I’ve actually always wished I were a pear!!! But alas, I am an apple. I don’t mind it too much in terms of body image, but I know I have to be careful because apples are at a higher risk for heart disease (because we carry more weight around our hearts and other vital organs). Just one more reason to eat healthy and exercise regularly I guess! 🙂

I’m a total apple… and I’ve had the opposite dress ordering problem (not a wedding dress yet though!). I have to get a bigger size to fit my ribcage (yeah, ribs not the bust 😛 ??) and have it taken in at the hips/butt.

I think formal dresses just have weird sizes to begin with…no woman has a “perfectly” proportioned body! When I was fit for a bridesmaid dress I had a size 4 bust, size ten waist, and size 8 hips; but I would describe my body shape as kind of banana-ish; my normal jean size is a 6. Crazy/annoying!!

Definitely a pear. I was actually suprised reading all of the comments about wanting a pear body. I’ve resented my hips/thighs for as long as I can remember! I do love my small waist though 🙂

I’m a pear…but not really a super definately pear. 🙂 That’s cool that your dress has parts and you could order different size bottoms and tops.

I am a pear too! But I am MAJORLY skeptical about those wedding dress measurements. Because when I ordered my dress (according to the designer’s measurments) it didn’t fit at all when I got it. (and no…I didn’t lose any weight) It was literally 3 sizes TOO big and I had to have major alterations. It was crazy!

I’m definitely a pear. I used to hate it, but I embrace my pear-ness! 😉 I didn’t know they could do split sizes! I had to order mine a size bigger than I usually wore and then get it taken in at the top. Although I did get extra padding put in up top! 😉

I’ve always been an hourglass, which can definitely be problematic when buying dresses as well! When I bought my prom dress, I had a 12-inch difference between bust and waist, and waist and hip measurements. They had to take in the waist of my dress four inches–crazy! I’m glad they’re able to do split sizes for your dress; every girl should get exactly what they want on their wedding day 🙂

I’m also a pear. It used to drive me mad (clothes shopping etc), now I’m embracing my strong legs and enjoying what I have been born with.
