We Wear ‘Em All

December 28, 2010 by Julie 37 Comments

I’ve always been the kind of girl who likes to wear every single Christmas gift right after Christmas. I don’t save a new sweater for a special night. I don’t hide a new dress for an upcoming party. I wear it all ASAP. I’m way too excited about new additions to my closet to keep them hidden.

Today my new maroon opaque tights made an appearance!

Displaying Gifts

Wearing your Christmas gifts immediately makes it very easy to answer the inevitable “So, what did you get for Christmas?” question that pops up all over the workplace.

I simply point to the goods and say, “I got this you crazy nutfingers!”

Yesterday I realized that Ryan is the exact same way. He wore the new Nike gym shoes I got him to the gym, changed into his new Banana Republic pullover sweater after showering, and then wore a beige hoodie from his mom on our evening walk with Sadie.

I like his style. 😉

Workout

This morning I didn’t wear any of my new workout attire to the gym because I received shorts and tank tops and it was, yet again, really cold. Record lows in Central Florida this morning, folks. Twenty-eight degrees. Yikes!

Once at the gym I completed 50 minutes of cardio:

  • 10 min. stair master (<– Why is this so hard for me?)
  • 20 min. adaptive motion trainer
  • 20 min. elliptical

While sweatin’, I read the latest issue of People magazine which highlighted events from 2010. The past year summary issue may be my favorite!  I loved looking back at what happened around the world in 2010 and can’t wait to see what happens next year.

Time to start brainstorming some New Year’s resolutions!

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was a bit unusual.

At work yesterday I snagged a Harry & David pear from a gift basket and sliced it up into a bowl before topping it with ricotta cheese, cinnamon and a squeeze of honey.

Pears + Cinnamon + Honey + Ricotta

It was a surprisingly great combo!

Close Up of the Good Stuff

Eat Up!

Now that my belly is full, it’s time to work. I have tons of stuff on my office to-do list for today, so I better get crackin’!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

The stairmaster is so hard! Do you do one level the whole time? I have found that using the intervals setting helps me stay on longer because I can recover on the easier interval but it still allows for a great workout!

CUTE tights! More fun than brown and black 🙂

I think the Stairmill is by far the hardest machine at the gym and for that reason I am obsessed with it. Yesterday I did 8 miles worth of hard intervals on the treadmill and a half hour on the Stairmill . . . go figure, Stairmill was the definite buttkicker of those two things. What the heck?! It’s just stairs?!

Guilty. I do that too. I am amazed with people who forgot they bought something from a store and find it later on with tags on. Show off the goodies!

I feel you on the stairmaster issue. I just started doing it and twenty minutes is tops due to how out of breath it makes me and I don’t even feel that my body is doing all that much movement. But I guess it is a good one because I actually feel like I’m working out on that machine and my body is not used to it which equals a good workout in my book.

My gym has those adaptive motion trainers, but I can’t seem to figure them out! I feel like I’m just hopping from one foot to another, but I see other people being able to swing their legs. I’ve tried it 2 or 3 times and I just can’t seem to make them work right!

I totally agree!!! My gym also has those adaptive motion trainers and I’ve tried them a few times and felt like an idiot each time! I actually tried watching a YouTube video on it, but still can’t do it!. I go backwards, can’t break a sweat and feel stupid! hahaha

I am the same with Christmas gifts, I actually wear them or use them right away for pictures right after I open each gift. It’s funny and it’s good to look back years later and start seeing the patterns of the gifts, lol 🙂

Then I wear them for reals later during the week.

We are having a cold front here in Southern California too.

I love your tights! Maroon is kind of the perfect color for tights if you are going to wear a color because it’s not too crazy but still more unique than plain old black or brown. Great idea!!

Your tights are super cute. I have a similar pair and I haven’t worn them much this year. But I may have to put them on tonight for girls’ night!
