Garbage Disposals

February 28, 2011 by Julie 39 Comments

I’m so glad we finally tried kale! After reading all about the benefits of this leafy green vegetable, I knew it was a nutritional powerhouse, but I didn’t expect it to taste as delicious as it does.

Tonight Ryan and I enjoyed a dinner of kale and pork chops.

To make the pork chops, I simply seasoned them with the same spices I used to make sugar ‘n’ spice pork back in January before baking them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.

I prepared kale the same way I did when we made it for the first time only I forgot to set a timer and burnt it a bit. Sad smile

It tasted crispy and a little too done, but we ate it anyway because we’re garbage disposals when it comes to food.

I went back for seconds!

On the side we also enjoyed fresh strawberries sprinkled with a bit of sugar.

Off to pack my lunch for tomorrow before settling in to watch The Bachelor tonight. Final threeeeee!

    Julie,
I’ve only tried Kale once and I must admit I’m a bit intimidated. I have had a bit of it in a salad, but it was masked and I couldn’t really determine whether or not I like it.
How would you recommend preparing it to try for a first timer? Plain? I know nothing! Eek.
    Thanks!

definitely roast it! i’d coat it in olive oil and garlic salt and roast it in the oven at 350 for about 15 minutes (flipping halfway through). it should be slightly crispy and delicious!

I LOVE kale!! My favourite way to eat it is as kale chips (http://bit.ly/dTvixa) – I’ve tried it in Green Monsters before but the taste is definitely more noticeable than spinach! Have fun with the Bachelor! 🙂

I really like the bachelor/bachelorette but I just can’t seem to get into this season. I’ve watched an episode here and there but last night I watched it waiting on the DWTS annoucement and during who was it – Ashley? Her date…omg I was yelling SERIOUSLY?! Just apologize to her and start over you crazed man! The whole time. My boyfriend finally got up to go play video games until Castle came on WHICH by the way you should totally watch….it’s awesome! High five to trying new veggies – you have bigger lady balls than I do. Yes…I just said lady balls.
