Did You Watch?

April 29, 2011 by Julie 103 Comments

Okay, who watched it???

ap_prince_william_kate_rings_dm-110428_ssh

Seeing as how I’m the girl who dragged the recap of her own wedding into eleven separate wedding recap posts, you better believe I tuned in!

I watched the royal wedding at the gym this morning, along with pretty much everyone else. I laughed when I looked around the cardio area and saw every single person’s television tuned into the ceremony… Well, everyone except Ryan. Don’t worry though because I made sure to give him the play-by-play as we ran on side by side treadmills, which  I know he appreciated.

Ryan and I both had to laugh when we arrived at the gym this morning because the woman who always scans our gym cards is British and when I asked her if she was excited about the royal wedding, she vehemently said, “Nah! It’ll never last! She’s a commoner!”

I’ve read in numerous articles that Price William choosing to marry a “commoner” is a big deal, but I guess that as an American I didn’t realize that it was that big of a deal. Ryan and I laughed with the woman at the front desk as she explained this to us. She’s so sassy and had quite a lot to say!

I really enjoyed watching the royal wedding and it truly was gorgeous, but I also felt like it was so impersonal. I loved taking the time with Ryan to write our own ceremony and make the day about us and our commitment to each other. The royal wedding seemed like too much of a formality and didn’t focus enough on the relationship between William and Kate for my liking.

Of course I must add that the whole affair was beyond stunning and very classy! Can you even imagine walking down that aisle? I would’ve puked if I were Kate from being so nervous!

Workout

My workout was quite uneventful since I basically crafted it around the royal wedding.

In the end my workout looked like this:

  • 15 min. run
  • 10 min. incline walk
  • 30 min. elliptical

I ran during the pre-wedding coverage so I wasn’t pounding away on the treadmill during critical times like the exchange of vows. Priorities!

Breakfast

After the gym, a 40-minute walk with Ryan and Sadie and a shower, it was breakfast time!

smoothie 002

In today’s smoothie:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1 scoop Gold Standard chocolate casein protein powder
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 pinches xanthan gum
  • 1 handful fresh spinach

smoothie 005

It was a good one! Chocolaty and peanut buttery. Great combo!

Time to work. YAY for FRIDAY!!!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

As I (half) Brit, I loved every minute of that pretty wedding. I felt like her dress was perfect for the occasion. Beeeyooteeful, but still reserved and perfect for such a traditional ceremony.

And HEY, this is late, but enjoy The Help! I wasn’t that psyched about the book when I received it as a gift last summer, but once I cracked it, I couldn’t put it down.

our gym was EMPTY this morning. I teach spin at 7am and had about a quarter as many people as normal show up for it. i guess next time there’s a royal wedding at the crack of dawn, I’m going to need to roll in the big screens to keep people coming!

I didn’t watch it but watched some highlights this morning online… I thought she looked absolutely stunning and I thought it was pretty personal. 🙂 You could tell they are in love and I love how they are going to keep their lives more on the simple side of things. This whole commoner thing is ridiculous, in my opinion. I realize it’s a big deal in Britain, but they are in love – let them enjoy this special day.

I also read somewhere that they sent invitations to some homeless people and soldiers injured in the war that had an impact on Prince William. I thought that was really cool. 🙂

I didn’t watch it live – but I’ve caught some of the footage and I can’t stop tearing up! Maybe I’m a sap, but I can’t stop thinking about how Diana isn’t there to watch her baby boy get married. Gah!

I think my favorite part was watching her walk down the aisle. Man, what was going through her head? I love seeing Prince Harry get so excited for his brother– and just how generally happy Prince William looked.

I like the formality and traditions of the ceremony especially b/c they did make it their own in subtle ways.

Heck yeh, I was pounding it out on the treadmill at 4am and watched until I had to go teach my bootcamp class at 5. Then I returned to the treadmill from 6-6:45!! Loved every minute of it. Running flew by this am!

I am a college student who has been reading your blog for quite some time now and I have to say I am amazed at the amount of exercise you manage to do every morning before work. This morning alone you were on the treadmill for 25 minutes and then the elliptical for 30 minutes and THEN a 40 minutes walk. Aren’t you just exhausted towards the end of the day? I would find myself having no energy if I worked out that much and woke up that early before class. You also never manage to skip a workout, don’t you ever have those days where you just can’t seem to wake up or be motivated to work out?

honestly, i am MORE exhausted when i don’t work out. exercise gets me moving early in the day and keeps me moving all day long. i honestly feel better and more alive after an early-morning gym session. also, i always make sure to take at lease one day off from the gym a week (sometimes two!) which helps rejuvenate me.

Well I heard that they actually have two ceremonies. One very public display as we all saw, and then a more private one in the evening just for close friends and families. Makes everyone happy =)

I loved it! I randomly woke up at 4am and decided to just watch the whole thing. I agree, I think if they could have had their way it would have been more personal but hey, they had to follow traditions and rules I guess. I did hear that they wrote one of the prayers together, though, which I think was really sweet. I do think/hope it’ll last!

I woke up early to watch before I had to go to class! Her dress was goregous! I watched the Today Show and they said that after the formal reception with all of the dignitaries and what not, there will be a reception tonight which is more personal. Like a “real” wedding reception. I thought that was so nice, because I also thought it was a little sad how formal and proper they had to be, I;m glad they get to be normal people still!

I loved it!! According to yahoo.news they “couldn’t” write their own vows.

I didn’t even consider writing my own vows because I hate being the center of attention, and wanted to speak as little as possible. In fact, when you watch our wedding video I look like I am about to puke or pass out the whole time. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t deeply love my hubby. We save the “personal touches” for our everyday lives. =)

And I totally agree about it being impersonal. Hopefully they had some time together, alone, to maybe speak their own vows.

But ah, I think Harry is far more handsome now. 😉

I watched it and loved it, but I’m pretty sure Princess Beatrice’s stylist is fired after that fascinator/wine rack she wore.

I love a personalized service, but there was something very special to both me and my husband about praying the same prayers, saying the same vows, and conferring the sacrament upon each other as millions of married Catholics have done for ages and ages — and our friends who’ve married in the Anglican church have valued the tradition there, too. Knowing that we were saying the same vows as our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents (and so on) was very powerful. Like anything in marriage, it’s about what works for you as a couple.

It was amazing!! I set my alarm to get up early to go for a run, no gym and work was closed as a bank holiday here in Britain!! Some of the roads had been closed for street parties so it was a great day for bringing the country together for a change.. it’s strange as the most recent pictures of Kate before the wedding in her blue outfit in the park was at my local park but I couldn’t go to see with working shifts grr 🙁 haha she looked beautifulll the carriages reminded me of something you see off a disney movie when they left!!

Agree on the aisle too..also, is that the longest walk ever or what?? haha I’m not sure if anybody mentioned but here a “commoner” is anyone that isn’t part of the monarch so even if you were rich you would be called that if you aren’t one of the royal family! I only found out myself yesterday when pointing out she was hardly common to my dad!! Haha what time was it for you guys watching it over there?? Were your works closed too? A lot of English people have taken holidays as it’s turned into a bank holiday weekend here and we had bank holiday weekend for Easter last weekend so it means days off without using all of your allowed holiday days!!:) xxx
