Gleeful Morning

June 5, 2011 by Julie 67 Comments

What a great start to a Sunday!

My day began slowly. After awaking around 7:30 a.m., I remained in bed with my laptop propped up, streaming an episode of Glee from Netflix with Sadie curled up by my side. I’ve downloaded many songs from Glee, but haven’t watched more than one episode. I’m starting from the beginning with the first season and am already hooked.

It has everything! Juicy teenage gossip, a smokin’ hot teacher (I love you, Matthew Morrison), upbeat songs that make me want to drop everything and pursue a career on Broadway and a hilariously psychotic antagonist. Needless to say, I’m a fan.

Eventually I rolled out of bed and headed downstairs to make myself breakfast.

Breakfast

A super-chocolaty smoothie sounded perfect!

In the mix:

  • 1 1/2 c. almond milk
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 c. frozen strawberries
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tsp. xanthan gum
  • 1 tbsp. ground flax seed
  • 1 handful fresh spinach

Farmer’s Market

Once I was done eating, I took Sadie on a walk to the downtown Orlando farmer’s market to scope out some fresh produce for the week.

As we walked around the lake, we saw three separate families of swans with multiple cygnets!

We also ran into Catherine and Annie, two super-nice blog readers – Hi guys!

Eventually we made it to the market where I purchased a small basket of Brussels sprouts.

I would’ve bought more, but as I was walking out the door, I grabbed the cash in my wallet, thinking I had a $20 in there. Sadly, I showed up with only $3! Sadie and I may make a second trip there today. I’m sure she won’t mind!

My agenda for today is filled with odds an ends.

  • Grocery store
  • Gym
  • Vacuum
  • Laundry
  • Hair cut
  • Start freelance article
  • Sort through clothes to giveaway
  • Organize closet

The best part of my day?

Ryan is coming home!!!

Ryan has actually been away on a hiking trip with three other guys for the past week. They left last Saturday and he’ll be returning TODAY! I didn’t want to mention him being gone on the blog for safety reasons, but I’ll be so glad to have him back.

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Love, love, love Glee! So excited you’re finally watching! Lea Michele (Rachel) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) are AMAZING, but Kevin McHale (Artie) is my personal favorite!

Oh yea, Matthew Morrison is such a hottie! If only he could take his shirt off a bit more on the show…

Just made a strawberry banana smoothie this morning and totally forgot the cocoa powder. I’m definitely remaking the chocolate version soon 🙂

YESS!!! I’m so glad you started watching Glee!! Isn’t it awesome that Netflix has the whole first season. I’ve started watching the 2nd season and it’s already awesome too.

Sue is sort of my favorite- her well-written lines always crack me up!! 😀

I am making it my mission to find a Farmer’s Market near my home town in Newfoundland! I lived in Ottawa when I first discovered this crazy, magical event that sells every veggie, necklace, and desert one woman could ever want. Now that I’m home, the local grocery store just doesn’t cut it for me :(. Looks like you had a very productive Sunday Julie, and supper looks delish :)!

Hi Julie, what kind of protein do you use for your smoothies? I’m looking for something new and wanted your suggestion 🙂
