No More Air Mattress

October 26, 2011 by Julie 69 Comments

After two months of sleeping on an air mattress, we officially have a brand new real mattress!

I am so freakin’ excited to go to sleep tonight! (And yes, we still need real bedding and bigger pillows. I’m on it!)

Our mattress was delivered late this afternoon and while I was working in my home office, unbeknownst to me, Sadie decided to break it in.

What a total turd.

Luckily we purchased a mattress protector that I immediately put on top of Sadie’s fluff patches before putting our new sheets on the bed.

Sadie doesn’t normally dig, so I don’t know what her deal was with the mattress. I reminded her that she is not a hamster and does not need to make herself a little nest out of fluff.

hamster

Random hamster story: When I was a little girl in high school, I had a pet hamster named Harold. One time my friend Michaela and I went to give him a bath in the sink because we thought he needed a little freshening up.

The craziest squeak/grunt came out of that little guy! Apparently hamsters are not meant to be bathed. To this day, whenever I smell Suave strawberry shampoo, I think of Harold the grunting hamster.

Dinner

Dinner tonight was a team effort.

Ryan made us burgers on the grill while I roasted butternut squash.

We served our burgers on whole wheat English muffins because we didn’t want to buy a whole pack of hamburger buns for only two burgers. Frugality, my friends.

And now for something FUN!

Upcoming Giveaway Details

Earlier this week I was contacted by BRAVO TV about an absolutely amazing giveaway opportunity for you guys… a chance to win a KITCHENAID MIXER!

kitchenaid mixer

I’ll be sure to post more details tomorrow, but in order to have a chance at winning the mixer, you might want to tune into the season finale of Top Chef: Just Desserts this evening and jot down the answers to these trivia questions:

  1. What was a special moment in Johnny’s life that he still treasures till this day?
  2. Who from Sally’s life inspired her final dessert display?
  3. “The word of the day is_____,” according to Gail Simmons.
  4. The winner of the second season of Top Chef Just Desserts is ______?

Keep them a secret until tomorrow and I promise they’ll come in handy! Smile

Enjoy your night, friends! See ya in the morning after a hopefully great night’s sleep on our new mattress!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I don’t know how you survived on an air mattress for that long! I hate sleeping on one for even a night or a weekend. Hah! I bet you slept like a baby!

Isn’t that a terrible feeling to walk into your room and see that? My 1-year old beagle/lab mix just did something similar to our foam mattress pad. You can check out my post about it here:

    I was speechless!

Hooray for a real mattress!! Once, we were staying with some family, and I slept on a brand new air mattress…..with a leak. Woke up in the middle of the night with the mattress half-empty, my butt on the floor, and, because it was almost empty, the rest of the mattress was around me like a burrito. Awesome.

OMG! I have to have the mixer. Ok, I already have one. But its not red. And the Top Chef finale is on the DVR so I might have to watch it without DH knowing so I can answer the questions.

LOVE Butternut squash. And the burgers look good. Sadie looks very sorry for what she did.

Lol! Oh no! 😛 At least the mattress was salvageable…Sadie looks so cute in that photo…ditto to the hamster!
We looked after the class hamster when I was younger during one school holiday….and our yorkshire terrier knowcked the cage over and killed it. Not good! 😛
I actually don’t remember if my Mum secretly replaced the hamster, or if we told the school, lol! Yep, Fifi (my then-woof) shamed herself too.
Those burgers and squash look delicious. So fresh and healthy! <3 xyx

Mmmm, dinner looks ace. Ya know, you still can’t get wholewheat English muffins in England. Odd right?

I had a hamster who could get itself out of its cage. He kind of ran wild around my house for months at a time. He also wasn’t very nice. When he died, I told my mom that I wasn’t very sad.
