Dessert Then Dinner

November 17, 2011 by Julie 39 Comments

Dinner then dessert. That’s how things normally go, right?

Well, not in this house. At least not today.

At around 5 p.m., I polished off the remaining vanilla bean ice cream leftover from our Friendsgiving party last weekend.

cabbage lentil soup 011-1

Pretty sweet appetizer, no?

Since it’s basically impossible for me to feel full after eating ice cream alone, I had plenty of room for dinner by the time we sat down to eat our evening meal.

Dinner included soup leftover from lunch served with a side of tortilla chips topped with melted shredded cheese that I shared with Ryan.

Tortilla chips sprinkled with cheese and melted in the microwave used to be one of my favorite sleepover snacks! I remember making them late at night with my girlfriends in high school and then they became the perfect late night drunk food in college.

Who needs Taco Bell at 2 a.m. when you can make your own microwavable nachos? (Okay, so I needed Taco Bell at 2 a.m. quite a few times in my life. Love those cinnamon twisty things.)

After dinner we took Sadie on an evening walk and were annihilated by mutant mosquitos. The bugs in Ocala look like dinosaurs compared to the bugs in Orlando. Sadie’s latest hobby is chasing the massive dragonflies.

Off to watch last night’s Modern Family episode on our DVR! Seriously love that show.

Sadie is adorable! though she looks all sad in that picture and she looks a lot bigger than she usually does. Microwavable nachos are amazing…if you ever have taco sauce drizzle some of that on before you microwave. Its better than it sounds….adds a nice little kick.

I just finished off a small plate of melted cheese on chips as I type!! It is totally my weakness… once I get a craving for cheese on chips there’s pretty much no talking me out of it. Thank god for the gym so I don’t feel so guilty indulging! 🙂

Last night’s Modern Family was hysterical!! It always makes us laugh out loud.

Once upon a time, in my not so distant past I begged my boyfriend (now husband) to take me to Taco Bell after a long night of drinking and dancing like fools. We got there ordered our tacos, and found out they were out of mild sauce. I literally had a melt down on the curb outside. Not my proudest moment. I was a die hard TB fan. Can’t stand it anymore.

    last nights episode was hilarious!

I swear sadie looks more and more like a little human with each picture; too cute! I’ve always been a fan of smaller dogs (well, the only dog I’ve ever had was small) but the pictures of her and your stories/descriptions seriously make me consider getting a sadie-like dog one day!

I love the combination of nachos and cheese with lentil and cabbage soup! Microwave nachos was my go-to late night snack in college. My roommate even woke up one time to find I had left the plate of nachos, uncooked, in the fridge…guess I was saving them for later? 🙂 good memories!

Oh man, those tortilla chips are the best. I love that all the salt gets stuck down in the bowl of the chip, so good! You’re right, definitely the best late night drunky snack ever!

I used to eat tortilla chips and melted cheese as a late night drunken snack too! Anytime I eat that delicious snack, I think of sitting in my apartment devouring a plate of those while watching Friends before falling asleep or passing out might be more accurate!

Nachos are the best. If you ever do make a run to Taco Bell, grab some extra packets of sauce. I have a ton of sauce packets in my fridge….they make the perfect addition to nachos or quesadillas.
