In a Daze

August 20, 2012 by Julie 108 Comments

I’ve been in a daze all day.

While I’ve managed to get work done, I feel like the day is flying by, but not in an energetic “Where did the time go!?” kind of way. It has been more of an “I’m floating through life and can’t snap out of it” kind of day for this girl.

Lunch

Lately I’ve spent some extra time in the kitchen on Sundays prepping food for the week to make assembling lunch and dinner a breeze.

Yesterday I cooked up a big batch of quinoa, chopped vegetables and tossed some chicken breasts in the crock pot. Today all that prep work came in handy when I assembled a super-fast warm quinoa bowl for lunch.

In my bowl:

  • Quinoa
  • Chicken
  • Mushrooms
  • Broccoli
  • Cashews
  • Avocado

quinoa bowl

It filled me right up!

About an hour later, I remembered that there was something pretty darn fantastic tucked away in our freezer.

publix pretzel sensation ice cream

When I blogged about my love for Oreo Birthday Blast ice cream a few weeks ago, Kate encouraged me to try another new flavor: Publix Premium Pretzel Sensation.

Since then, this ice cream has been on my radar and when I saw it on sale for $3.50 at the grocery store yesterday, I put it in our cart.

My goodness, this stuff is incredible. If you love peanut butter and chocolate and live near Publix, this ice cream will knock your socks off.

Check out the thick ribbon of peanut butter:

The little bowl was delicious enough to bring me out of my daze.

Ice cream is always the answer.

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

My answer: Oreo Birthday Blast! It’s a new flavor for me, but it was love at first bite. Chocolate marshmallow comes in a close second.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I do love the Oreo birthday blast! So good. Even if it’s labeled “Dairy dessert” instead of ice cream. Ha! Probably a classic chocolate chip cookie dough would have to be my favorite though. That or strawberry with chunks of fresh strawberries in the ice cream. Yummm

OH Julie, you may have just changed my dinner plans with this post. Lol. I could eat fro yo every day!!

Reese’s never fails me – even when it comes to ice cream.

Although a few years ago, I got ice cream at a small ice cream shop while my family was camping called Grandma’s Cupboard – it was vanilla ice cream with brownie chunks, cookie dough, cookie crumbles, and probably some other stuff that I can’t even remember mixed in. Amazing.

Oh. My. GOSH!! That ice cream looks incredible, but I’m no where near a Publix in California. 🙁

If you have Thrifty’s/Rite Aid near you in FL, go try some Chocolate Malted Crunch…..So delicious!

We need a summertime ice cream party!! STAT!

Do you know if that ice cream has high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils in it? I have a really hard time finding “good” ice cream that doesn’t have those ingredients in it. The ice cream sounds amazing, but I’d only want to try it if it wasn’t full of junky ingredients.

I recently became a fan of coconut after years of HATING it. When my boyfriend and I went on vacation this spring, I tried an Almond Joy ice cream for the first time, and it absolutely blew me away. SO GOOD.

I was in quite a daze too, today, and it seems like nothing can get me out of it like ice cream. I’ve always been a fan of mint chocolate chip (the white kinds, not the green kind) and just recently started making it myself. Homemade ice cream is much easier to make than I ever thought it would be! I’d definitely give it a try.

I’m seriously contemplating making a trip to Publix right now for some of that ice cream. Even if I have already had froyo covered in oreos once today! I love the idea of prepping for the week, but I’m never satisfied with reheated chicken for some reason? Random, I know!

I have been lactose intolerant for about 3 years now. I miss ice cream soooo much! I can not even remember what my favorite flavor once back then. However, I have found a loop hole to my problem….FROZEN YOGURT! I am assuming that it is the live cultures in this delicious treat that allows me to eat it without my usual symptoms. Luckily I have a frozen yogurt bar right across the street from my apartment (i go atleast once a week 🙂 ) My favorite flavors are peanut butter (of course) and then I love to swirl red velvet cake and cheescake flavors together. If you have a frozen yogurt bar near you, you definitly need to try it out…you will not regret it haha

So glad I read this post after I went to the grocery store! Ice cream is my weakness, but I’m trying to be good, so I haven’t bought any in awhile. That ice cream makes my mouth water for some Turkey Hill Chocolate PB Cup. There is no Publix in DE, but grocery stores do sell Turkey Hill ice cream, which is awesome! Although I have to say that my absolute favorite is also Turkey Hill – their Mint Chocolate Chip is the best! Of course, any chocolate flavor of ice cream is always a winner. Ben & Jerrys has some amazing flavors too. And then there’s DQ Blizzards… Oh, I have to stop or I might end up going out to buy some now!

Also their oatmeal cookie flavor is awesome. Basically can’t go wrong with Ben and Jerry’s! I almost wrote B&J’s but that looked wrong…

I’ve been lurking for weeks now, but couldn’t resist chiming in for the ice cream discussion! Up here in Canada, we have a company called President’s Choice (usually sold at Loblaws and Superstore grocery store chains). They have an ice cream that’s only available at Christmas and totally worth the wait for it: Candy Cane Chocolate Fudge Crackle Ice Cream. Yummy!

I have NEVER met anyone who loves iice cream more than me…no joke. I eat it every day of my life(I also run alot as well, haha) I’ve tried almost every brand and flavor I’ve ever been able to buy. However, I’ve never been to Public. The closest one is an hr away. But thats where my brother and two precious nieces shop. So this weekend I hope I can babysit and swing by Public to get some of their yummy ice cream!!! 🙂

Did u put all the chicken and veggies in the crock pot? Or were they already prepped and then put into the crock pot? Any seasonings? 🙂
