A Christmas Carol in Jacksonville

December 24, 2014 by Julie 37 Comments

Merry Christmas Eve!! I hope you’re able to step away from work and the craziness of everyday life over these next few days and enjoy some time with the people you love most. I am trying my best to soak up every last second with my family and feel truly present as we all enjoy the end of the Christmas season together.

It wasn’t too hard to get into the Christmas spirit yesterday because the whole family had tickets to see A Christmas Carol at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Jacksonville.

My sister found a Groupon for discount tickets last week and we scooped up six together so we could all watch Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim as a family.

We arrived about 20 minutes early which gave us plenty of time to chat and hang out before the curtains rose.

We love our goofy guys!

Our Groupon seats took us to the top balcony but we were in the very front row, so the view was great!

There were lots of families at the show and we saw a ton of people in fun Christmas sweaters and festive apparel. It definitely helped our whole family get into the Christmas spirit!

The show was great and the actor who played the part of Scrooge did a fantastic job!

Now I am getting ready to dig into a delicious brunch at home with the fam! My sister, dad and I took a spinning class together this morning and worked up quite an appetite.

Oh, and before signing off, Sadie wanted to say a quick hello from the beach!

Just in case I don’t have the chance to pop in again later today, I also wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Happy, happy holidays! <3 <3 <3 You all mean so much to me!

Looks like you guys are having some great family time for Christmas! We love going to shows, but didn’t make it to a Christmas one this year. Hopefully we will get to zoo lights this weekend with my nephew so that will make up for it! haha

That’s a great theatre! The Omaha Community Playhouse has performed A Christmas Carol for about the last 500 years, it seems. My high school choir teacher was Scrooge for about 30 years, until he retired in 2003 (I got to see his last performance!). Love that show! Merry Christmas!

Hi and Merry Christmas! Just wondering, what harness is Sadie wearing and do you like it? I’m always looking for a new harness for my dog. She pulls like crazy! Thanks!

It’s called the Gentle Leader Easy Walk harness and it’s amazing. HIGHLY recommended. It definitely helps with pulling and forces the dog to walk in a circle if they try to pull. I swear by it!

Merry Christmas, Julie! Looks like you’ve been having a FUN vacation with family. That’s the best. I was a lucky little kid, in that my mom took me to lots of plays growing up. But one of the most memorable was A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis). During intermission they had a little cart selling cheesecake with a hot toffee sauce on top, and that was the first time I ever tried cheesecake (a love affair has ensued ever since).

Love reading about everyone’s holiday plans, it just adds to the good feelings about the day. Thanks for sharing yours!
