Holiday Movies on a Sick Day

December 13, 2010 by Julie 50 Comments

Movie number one was just as good as I remembered! bagel with cran 026

“To me, you are perfect.” Sighhhhh. 🙂

I loved reading all of your favorite movies to watch on days you’re feeling under the weather.

We share many of the same sick-day favorites, including my top-two favorite holiday movies:

  • Elf
  • Christmas Vacation

Nothin’ beats those two!

Next up on the agenda for Sick Julie’s holiday movie fest is this lil’ baby:tea 020I bought this movie a while ago in one of those $5 bins and watched it for the first time while puttering around the house. Needless to say, I don’t remember much about it!

Now that I’m all curled up on the couch in my fuzzy red cheetah socks, I hope to actually watch more more than 30 minutes of it. tea 019Hopefully it will be an uninterrupted movie, as I just polished off lunch and my tummy is nice and full.

Lunch

I dug into the freezer for today’s lunch since I was feeling super lazy and unmotivated.

Look what reared it’s ugly (but tasty!) head: tea 007I’m not lying when I say I used to eat Lean Pockets for lunch at least three days a week when I first graduated college. I thought I was being oh-so-healthy.

They’re definitely not the worst selection in the world, and they taste delicious, but they are not weight-loss in a box. Though I wasn’t trying to lose weight, I definitely didn’t drop any pounds when eating Lean Pockets and Lean Cuisines for lunch and dinner because they left me feeling less-than-satisfied. Much of the time, I’d end up eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich afterward.

Still, Lean Pockets are tasty and I had some in the freezer to use in a pinch and heated one up to enjoy today along with carrot slices and a mug of hot Celestial Seasonings gingerbread spice tea.

tea 005 tea 010

tea 013tea 015So delicious and warm.

I think Ryan forgot to turn up the heat when he left for work this morning because it’s pretty darn cold in here. I am super-cheap and actually like to bundle up inside, so I think I’ll try to tough it. 😀

Off to Holiday it up!

    The Holiday is a great one, too! I love Jude Law in it (especially when he does “napkin face” with his little girls).

    How about “The Family Man”?

        I guess Jude Law can be hit or miss, but he has some great moments in “The Holiday”. Of course Jack Black is “the nice guy” and just great! Plus, my Fiance and I love the little girls with British Accents! After we watched it he said “let’s have kids with British accents!”

    I loved Lean Cuisines and Lean Pockets a few years back too. I’m curious as to what I’d think of them now that I’m used to more fresh foods!! Definitely not the worst option though, like you said.

    Enjoy The Holiday- it’s one of my favorites!!

    I’ve never seen The Holiday!
    Lean pocket looks so good, sometimes I could use a simple meal like that, just from the freezer. But we don’t have many options like this over here :/

    I used to eat a lot of prepackaged food that was marketed as “diet” food, but like you said I never lost weight while eating them. I’m surprised you didn’t eat soup and crackers, that’s my go to meal when I’m sick.

    Are you feeling any better?

    I actually really like the holiday, though it’s become something of a joke between me and my boyfriend. Everytime we visit his dad’s house and watch TV on his big screen, the Holiday seems to ALWAYS be on. We’ve seen it in bits and pieces about ten times. Whenever we’re looking for a movie to watch, I always jokingly suggest The Holiday. It actually is pretty cute. Hope you like it!

    I love love actually, elf, and Christmas vacation! They truly are some of the cutest and funniest Christmas movies. I’m jealous of your sick day as crazy as that sounds!! I’m finals central up here in Philadelphia, and its cold, busy, and sleepy. I like the family man, it’s a good “appreciate what you have before it’s gone” kind of movie. Now I’m sad and want to watch Christmas movies all day, but I have 3 more finals and Pharmacology is up next. I hope you feel better!!!

    ….I love love LOVE that movie so much.

    This weekend I also watched two classics…
    * It’s a wonderful life
    * White Christmas

    Both didn’t dissapoint 🙂 there’s something special about watching a movie that was made 60 years ago! <3 it really put me in the Christmas spirit.

    I used to eat Lean Pockets as well. I stopped because I realized that they didn’t feel me up very much. I definitely did not lose weight while eating them because I always ate more when I had those on the lunch menu. 🙂
