I have a feeling half of you out there are immediately intrigued by recipes that incorporate protein-packed foods like Greek yogurt and cottage cheese into the ingredient list while the other half out there reading this post are firmly planted in the “for the love of all things, just leave my food and baked goods aloooone” camp. For those of you thoroughly intrigued by ways to amp up the protein in your recipes in ways that still make the foods you love actually taste good (aka NOT ICE CREAM), then hop aboard the Greek yogurt biscuits train with me! I assure you these Greek yogurt biscuits are worth a try because they’re a recipe I’ve found myself making on repeat when I want something doughy, bready and deliciously carby. They’re easy to make (only four ingredients!) and come together in a flash.
What Are Greek Yogurt Biscuits
Greek yogurt biscuits are biscuits made with Greek yogurt as a primary ingredient. The Greek yogurt is key for amping up the amount of protein in the biscuits but it’s also to thank for keeping the biscuits moist and doughy, giving them a texture that’s a little more dense than your average fluffy, crumbly biscuit. They also have a very slight tang that’s unique to biscuits made with Greek yogurt.
Can You Make Biscuits With Greek Yogurt
I was a little skeptical about this at first as well but after making pizza crust with with cottage cheese and then Greek yogurt would be delicious as well! Spoiler alert: They’re fantastic and satisfy any cravings I might have for fresh-out-of-the-oven biscuit topped with a smear of melty butter. Our kids especially like them with butter and honey or jelly for a little added sweetness. If the slight tangy flavor from the Greek yogurt in these biscuits isn’t your thing, that’s also where butter and jelly or honey can come in handy because it makes them taste a lot more like a traditional biscuit!
How To Make Biscuits With Greek Yogurt
Here is everything you need to make this Greek yogurt biscuit recipe:
Ingredients
Greek yogurt: I’m sure you guessed this one! I’ve made these biscuits with full- fat, non-fat and low-fat Greek yogurt and every single one works well. I do prefer whole milk or full-fat Greek yogurt most from a flavor standpoint but you cannot go wrong with any kind of plain Greek yogurt.
Flour: I’ve made these biscuits with three different kinds of flour and they’ve all worked well. I’ve tested them with traditional all-purpose flour (works great!), whole wheat flour (works great!), einkorn flour (works great!) and whole wheat einkorn flour (works great!) so do your thang and pick the flour you like best.
Baking power: A necessity to make the biscuits rise!
Salt: Just a little bit helps prevent these biscuits from being too bland.
Instructions
These Greek yogurt biscuits are a Greek yogurt drop biscuit, meaning they’re made with a looser wetter dough dropped by the spoonful onto a baking sheet, yielding a denser biscuit. They’re not a traditional crumbly biscuit with a dough you kneed on a floured surface, making them even easier to make!
To make Greek yogurt biscuits, follow the yogurt biscuit recipe instructions below:
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Top a large baking sheet with a silicone baking mat, parchment paper or spray thoroughly with cooking spray. Whisk flour, salt and baking powder together in a large bowl.
Step 2
Fold the Greek yogurt into the flour mixture using a spatula. Slowing mix together until a sticky dough begins to form. One everything is thoroughly mixed, drop large spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheet.
Step 3
Bake for 18 minutes, or until tops of biscuits begin to very lightly turn brown. (If anything, I’ll pull my biscuits out on the earlier side because I prefer them slightly under-done and doughy but go with your gut on this if you like a less doughy biscuit.)
Step 4
Allow biscuits to slightly cool. Enjoy warm out of the oven or cut in half and top with butter (and/or honey and jelly) and enjoy!

Hi!
Would these biscuits be good served in a savory way? I was thinking..under chicken pot pie filling? Or do you only recommend serving them sweet?
They would be great savory!! They are not inherently sweet at all so they can be savory or sweet when you serve them!
