The Drink Makes the Lunch

January 13, 2011 by Julie 49 Comments

I’m a big fan of food but sometimes a drink can really make the meal. Like the cucumber martini from my bachelorette party. Gulp!

Lunch today included roasted asparagus and a chicken quesadilla… but my cup of hot chocolate stole the show. The perfect beverage for the cold weather!

Thursday Lunch

(Yes, I stole Ryan’s tervis tumbler cup. I told you we love ’em!)

I drank the whole cup of hot cocoa while trying to prevent myself from saying mmmm or yuuuum after every sip. Kinda like the yum, yum kitty. (<– If you haven’t watched this adorable video on YouTube yet, you have to check it out. So cute!)

Though my hot ‘n’ sweet drink was the highlight of my meal, the asparagus and ‘dilla held their own.

Asparagus

Eat Da Cheez!

Gotta love a hot lunch on a cold day.

Back to work I go. Less than two hours ’til 5!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Ok, this is so nerdy of me, but I could notice in that 1st photo were your dual monitors! I am so jealous! 🙂

And, yes! Usually for lunch [when I’m not snowed-in my house], I go to Starbucks for lunch to blog. And then I eat soup or something back at the office. But MAN, that hot, sweet beverage sure makes my day! I will be sad when the gingerbread syrup runs out for the season. 🙁

There is no way there is anything in that “quesadilla”. You can tell in the picture that it’s flat is a board!! Fess up – were you eating a plain tortilla???

Stay warm! It’s been in the 30s and 40s here, so I’ve been sporting my extra sweet parka. You make “bundling” look so cute and fashionable! 🙂

I haven’t found a hot cocoa brand that I’m in love with yet, but I often enjoy a hot mug of almond milk mixed with unsweetened cocoa powder and a little stevia. It is the perfect treat for a cool night!

I have a question – does Ryan bring leftovers to work every day too? If not, what does he eat for lunch every day? Can we have “A Day in the Life of Ryan” post??

I see that you have a tervis full of water on your desk. How much water do you drink a day? Do you make an effort to drink a certain amount?

i really need to drink more. i make an effort to drink 3 of those tervis tumblers full of water while i’m at work + water at the gym + water with dinner. it doesn’t always happen though.

MMm hot chocolate. Now that sounds yummy – esp. on these cold, blistery days. I might have to stop at the store and grab some on the way home.

A gf of mine told me that Dunken Donuts HC is pretty good. I tasted it but it’s not as tasty as she was making it out to be. =/

Those tumblers are really cute. You’ve said before that you were able to nab your’s at Bed, Bath & Beyond, right?
