Calamari Craving

February 28, 2013 by Julie 86 Comments

This morning I spent some time updating my blog’s media kit. (If you’re a blogger and want to make your own media kit but don’t know where to begin, I highly recommend Katy’s blog post: How to Make a Media Kit for Your Blog.)

It took me a while because I am quite an amateur when it comes to creating pretty much anything on the computer. Plus, I did the entire thing in Microsoft Word which isn’t exactly a breeze when it comes to formatting.  I swear, if there’s a way to do something in Word, I will always use it. It’s like my computer safety net.

Lunch today started and ended with fruit.

First, a nectarine!

nectarine

Followed by a peanut butter, chocolate and banana smoothie. Emphasis on the peanut butter. Yes!

Smoothie with PB and Banana

Into the blender went:

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 heaping spoonful peanut butter <—best part!
  • 1 spoonful cocoa powder
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 2 large handfuls fresh spinach
  • Enough 2% milk to get everything moving

Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Once I was finished with my smoothie, I felt full but got the strangest craving for calamari. Not sure where that one came from!

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is the strangest craving you’ve experienced recently?

My calamari craving today came out of nowhere and the other day I found myself craving my beloved Ben & Jerry’s oatmeal cookie chunk ice cream that I cannot find ANYWHERE.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Hmm, calamari actually sounds good to me right now, too!! I’m also craving a nice glass of wine. I’m almost 9 months pregnant, so it’s been a while since I’ve been able to enjoy one! 😉

I’ve never see that flavor of Ben & Jerry’s. I just know whenever I see the girl scout thin mint ice cream, I instantly buy it since it doesn’t come around much.

I had a very strong craving for waffles this week. It seems like an easy fix, but it is not so easy in Australia (which obviously must be a waffle hating country). I went to the supermarket and there was ONE!!! brand of waffles and they aren’t even proper waffles, instead they’re some super thin waffle wanna-be. Needless to say, I’m looking for a waffle maker! Until then I’ll be munching on the waffle wanna-bes.

Pancakes! All last weekend I wanted pancakes sooo bad! Finally satisfied the craving this week! I tried making pancakes with some left over ricotta and it was AMAZING! 🙂 Now, I’m craving a peanut butter smoothie!

I am all about hamburgers lately. I feel, once I eat one, I immediately become superhuman. I think my body is telling me to eat more protein!

I had a strange craving for peanut sauce yesterday and an equally ridiculous craving for Thin Mints last weekend. Luckily some copycat recipes satisfied both cravings! 🙂

The strangest craving I’ve had recently is for gyros from street vendors in DC…and I’m not even crazy about gyros! That nectarine looked delicious. I can’t wait until they’re in season here in MD!

There should ALWAYS be an emphasis on the peanut butter, right?? 😉

Oatmeal cookie ice cream? That sounds fabulous! Now you have got me craving something that I probably won’t even be able to find! 😉

I would really like some chocolate crinkle cookies. Alas, they’re so much work, I decided to just skip the craving … this time.

they LIST oatmeal cookie but i usethe locator and it is NEVER in a store near (or even non-super-near) to me! it actually started as a limited batch. i sent many emails suggesing/begging them to bring it full time. i saw it in a store later on saying “back by popular deman” on the front and noting the emails they got on the back. clearly, my good deeed for huankind was that participation. but it is now becoming meaningless!

JULIE! I have been on the hunt for that ice cream too. AH! I just searched for it on their website, as to where to find it, and it said ‘sorry! no where to be found around you.’ My heart broke. Haha. I guess I need to take a trip to Vermont to go to Ben & Jerry’s again…;)

It isn’t a STRANGE craving perse but I keep craving peanut butter. It is my utter weakness…I can’t help it. I knew you’d appreciate the craving….this is why I don’t stock it in the house…because it would last for about 0.5 seconds… 🙁

Such a weakling…especially when paired with chocolate!
