Two Ingredient Mascarpone Dip

August 28, 2013 by Julie 67 Comments

A few weekends ago, Ryan and I had a handful of our friends over for a game night. Before it was game time, we all hung out in the kitchen, drinking wine and eating appetizers.

I put out a display of various cheeses with bread, crackers, fresh fruit, olives and more. It was your typical cheese spread with the exception of one thing. A mascarpone and orange marmalade dip!

The dip came together without too much thought and only used two ingredients, so I was shocked when everyone raved about it! I was inspired to make the dip by the TV show Chopped. Many of the chefs gravitate toward mascarpone as a main ingredient in the dessert round of the chef competition show and they always come up with the most delicious looking desserts that incorporate the creamy cheese.

Orange Mascarpone Dip

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup mascarpone
  • 1/4 cup orange marmalade

Directions:

  1. Combine mascarpone and orange marmalade and stir together until everything is adequately combined.
  2. Spread it on top of warm French bread or use it as a dip for fresh fruit or cinnamon sugar pita chips.

Note: You may want to double or triple this recipe if you are serving a group.

I told you it was easy!

This morning, I made the dip again and used it as somewhat of a cream cheese substitute and spread it on top of a toasted whole wheat English muffin.

mascarpone orange marmalade spread I also had a banana on the side.

Not a bad way to kick off a Wednesday!

Question of the Morning

  • What is your favorite kind of dip?

My favorites include guacamole, seven layer dip or this honey peanut apple dip my mom makes on occasion. Yum!

Guacamole is one of my favorite dips and so is hummus 🙂 I also love fiesta ranch dip. Just dump a packet of hidden valley fiesta ranch into sour cream or greek yogurt and enjoy with pretzels 🙂

Mascarpone. Something I rarely use, but enjoy so much when I remember to bust it out. Thanks for the recipe!

I LOVE mascarpone cheese! One of our favorite dips and a huge hit at every party I have is a simple dip using turkey bacon, mascarpone, a little greek yogurt, chives, salt and pepper. Served with homemade pita chips, it’s delicious!

Would love those shoes for cross training in kickboxing, jogging, and interval training! My feet are flat and I tend to be accident prone in tripping over my own feet when the soles don’t grip the floor enough.

Made your banana bread pancakes this weekend for myself and my husband and they were so delicious and filling! They actually filled us up for most of the day (most pancakes tend to make both of us hungry a couple of hours later.). Excited to try your new dip…love easy recipes!

That sounds good, made me think of another dip I’ve made with mascarpone, try it with FIG jelly/preserves. I promise you, it is to die for!

I was about to make it but the marmalade had a bit of mold, so instead I mixed a half cup (what was left) of hot pepper jelly with the marscapone in a ceramic bowl and let it schmooze overnight. Spread on firm whole wheat crackers. For a picnic or post-game (tennis, baseball, or bocce ball…) event freeze a little water in a slightly larger bowl then at the event set the bowl of spread inside. As the ice melts, the cold water will surround the smaller bowl keeping the spicy spread chilly.
