It's All About the Smell

April 26, 2010 by Julie 31 Comments

The smell of food is one of my favorite things about making a meal.

Smelling something baking in the oven or grilling in the backyard gives me a sense of comfort and happiness. I love how a simple whiff of a neighbor’s burgers on the grill can make you instantly want to pop over and have a BBQ!

The smell of my lunch today was delicious and prompted several people to ask me what I was making as it cooked in the break room.

What caused the heavenly sent, you may be wondering?

MorningStar Farms Pizza Burgers

Pizza burgers!

These babies smell so good. Luckily they taste pretty good, too!

I incorporated a MorningStar Farms tomato and basil pizza burger into my lunch by placing it on top of a steamed veggie salad with marinara sauce and ricotta cheese.

Veggies + Marinara + Ricotta

Pizza Burger = Yum

These pizza burgers used to be my go-to snack at work. I ate them so much that I eventually got sick of them! I always seem to do that with new foods I love!

What is your favorite food smell?

To me, there’s nothing that smells better than chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven… Though cinnamon rolls do come close!

I love, love, love the smell of freshly baked bread. There’s just nothing better!

Although…when I was in college, there was a gelato shop right by my house that made homemade waffle cones, and there were some AWESOME smells that wafted over daily!

Blueberry Muffins baking is an awesome smell! I have a candle that smells just like them called Blueberry Blitz and everytime I light it my husband thinks I’m making blueberry muffins. He says he hates that candle because it’s sucha tease 🙂

Those pizza burgers are delicious! I’ve had them many times before!
I am DEFINITELY a smell person too. Growing up, my mom used to make these cinnamon chip scones that always smelled heavenly. Then there was the fresh baked cinnamon bread, or the homemade sauce…
haha, I guess my childhood has a lot of “smelly” memories! 🙂
I’m also a HUGE fan of the smell of bbq…nothing better on a warm summer day! 8)

I just bought those EXACT same burgers yesterday!!!!! Can’t wait to ding in! Unfortunately for me, I’m allergic to ricotta cheese. I may try your combo and substitute nutritional yeast for the cheese. Have a great day!

PS…Per your advice I took my second BodyPump class today and it was AWESOME!!! Legs were def shakin!!! 🙂

Coffee is my number one favorite smell. When I used to go to the grocery store by my mom, I would stop by the coffee section and just inhale for a good minute or two. Sigh…

What kind of marinara sauce do you use? You always make me crave marinara and ricotta with veggies! 🙂

Morningstar burgers seriously do smell so good when cooking! Which makes the eating experience that much more enjoyable.

I’m with you – smell is where it’s at! Hence why I’m semi-obsessed with food-scented candles; toffee chip, birthday cake, pumpkin pie, to name a few…
