Chipotle Is Good For Recovery, Right?

April 23, 2015 by Julie 93 Comments

Good afternoon! Things around here have been all about the recovering patient today.

acl surgery brace

To those of you who took the time to comment on my morning blog post and share a little bit about your experiences surrounding ACL surgery: Thank you!! Ryan and I read through them together once I got off work at the gym and they were very helpful. Biggest takeaways: Listen to your physical therapist and don’t do too much too soon. I think Ryan will struggle the most with the second piece of that advice since he’s always one to want to push himself, but it definitely sounds like it pays to be patient. Thank you for weighing in!

Once I was done teaching spin and working at the gym for a few hours this morning, I drove home to see Ryan but made sure to grab a little something for us to eat for lunch first.

Chipotle had to happen again today. I told you guys it’s my latest pregnancy obsession and I was happy Ryan was on board for his and hers burrito bowls this afternoon. Plus a side of chips and guacamole! (Side note: Any other Chipotle die-hards out there feel like their chips have changed for the better recently? This could also  just be the fact that I am loving all the salty foods 10,000 times more these days and just appreciate them more…)

After lunch, I opened up my laptop and sat on the couch with Ryan for the remainder of my lunch break. I typed up this blog post and then had some work I needed to get done on my computer. I got caught up while Ryan broke into the first of three Redbox movies I picked up for him.

redbox movies

I have zero interest in two of his requests (The Hobbit and Fast and the Furious 6), but we’re hoping to watch The Imitation Game together when I get home from Girls On The Run this evening. My mom had great things to say about it and my hopes are high.

And since the vast majority of our weekend will likely be spent on the couch, if you guys have seen any great movies lately via Redbox or Netflix, please let me know!

Now it’s time to head out to GOTR! Enjoy your evening!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Chipotle is the best! I really liked the movie This is Where I Leave You. It was a good mix of real life and funny.
    Hope Ryan feels better soon!

Have you seen St. Vincent with Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy?! My fiancé and I loved it (and it’s rare for us to both like the same movie)! It has bits of humor but it was really cool to see them both in more serious roles than they usually play. Highly recommend!! Get well soon, Ryan!!

Saw some mention of Whiplash and I will have to agree that it was an awesome movie. The Imitation Game was also really good too. My husband and I just saw Furious 7 in the theater and it was pretty emotional given that Paul Walker died. So sweet.

My husband and I would watch The Killing on regular TV and they switched it over to Netflix. It was a murder mystery damage series. But…did you see what will be coming to Netflix? Fuller House – a spinoff of Fun House.!! Staring DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy!! I can’t wait! Not until next year but its still exciting!!

Chipotle must go hand in hand with pregnancy because there was a span of 2-4 months where that’s all I wanted.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

I loved The Imitation Game! Such a great movie. Also recommend Chef, An Honorable Woman (it’s like six episodes but there’s just the one season), and stand-up comedy routines (Chris D’elia and Aziz are my faves!).

Imitation game was good but the ending (with the end captions) broke my heart. Also, I had ACL reconstruction in October and while sitting around doing nothing was brutal, I am back to running and so much more appreciate of my legs now 🙂

Movies – The Best of Me, The Judge, and This is Where I Leave You are recent favorites!

Sending Ryan well wishes! I highly recommend the BBC series “Sherlock” on Netflix. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (from Love Actually). It’s so good and highly addictive!

I loved Into The Woods and Big Hero 6. I just watched them on the plane.

My husband and I are attempting not to eat out for 300 days this year.. I haven’t had Chipotle since last year and I think what I miss most are their giant burritos and a really good sandwich (like Jimmy John’s or Quiznos).

If you’re into documentaries, I recommend The Human Experiment. You can get it on iTunes.

Random share…with your mention of chips from Chipotle, I have to ask…have been to Chuy’s? One opened in Raleigh and while I think this food is pretty good, their chips are SO AWESOME!!! I think I could go there and just have margaritas and chips. (I know you have to go the virgin margarita route for a bit longer:)). Really, it is worth the trip to have their chips!!!

I totally relate to this post! Chipotle has been my favorite food for the past 5-6 years now and I literally eat it at LEAST once a week, usually more. And I usually get the burrito because delicious. Funny enough, Chipotle started out as my best friend and I’s hangover food of choice… Chipotle = nutrition and nourishment 😉

Also, I tore my ACL my sophomore year of high school (February 2005) during the peak of my soccer career, so I know how much it sucks. Physical therapy and the progress you make each day is so inspiring though – I remember being so happy on the day I was finally cleared to run again!

Best wishes for Ryan’s recovery! I know how he feels, because I just had arthroscopic surgery on my meniscus yesterday, and am now quite incapacitated. It’s not fun at all!

Just randomly picked Labor Day to watch on Netflix because of the great actors in it. It’s sort of a dark drama, but quite good!

I constantly ate Chipotle when I was pregnant! So good!!! Boys must like it 🙂

Good luck to Ryan with his recovery. My husband had that about a month after we got married. It was rough, but he’ll get there. Just take it slow.

Did you end up watching Imitation Game? I absolutely LOVED it, both that one and Theory of Everything were near tied for my favorite movie of 2014! I also loved The Hobbit, but I know that story and genre isn’t for everyone 🙂

I’ve heard Chipotle is switching from frying their chips in soybean oil to sunflower oil in their mission not to use any GMO foods… I wonder if that is the change you’re noticing!
