Life in a Musical

May 20, 2010 by Julie 28 Comments

I know musicals aren’t for everybody, but one thing’s for sure: They’re for me!

Sing Me a Song

I love the energy and excitement surrounding a musical. I love how watching a musical makes you want to jump on top of your chair and sing!

I often leave musicals wishing my life was a musical.

How cool would that be?

Let’s just say your boss comes in and dumps a whole lot of work in your lap… on a Friday… at 4 p.m. *Cue angry drums and dark lighting!*

Or, on the flip side, your boyfriend calls and tells you he planned a romantic surprise date for you. *Cue light and peppy music, with a romantic melody provided by violins.*

Fun!

Clearly I am getting quite excited for my plans to see Mary Poppins with my mom and sister this evening.

Mary Poppins

I adore the movie and am sure the musical will be just as fantastic. I’ve only heard wonderful things, so I cannot wait to see it for myself.

“Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…” 😀 (Ain’t that the truth?)

Lunch

Lunch was sung to the tune of Carba Nada pasta with steamed cauliflower and marinara sauce.

Noodle Bowl

Bad news. I forgot to sprinkle my noodle bowl with Parmesan cheese. *Cue dark music.*

Where's the Cheese!?

I included a boat-load of cauliflower in my pasta and I am stuffed!

For dessert I had three strawberries that were the size of a small child.

Big Berry

I hope to high-tail it outta work a little on the early side today since I came in early and want to make it to St. Pete in time to drop Sadie off at my parents’ house and head back out to Tampa for the show.

I plan to make a pit stop at Starbucks for a light Frappuccino (which apparently you can now completely customize) en route to St. Pete.

Questions of the Afternoon

Do you like musicals? What musicals have you seen? What is your favorite musical?

Clearly I am a musical fan. I’ve seen quite a few, including:

  • Wicked
  • Legally Blonde: The Musical
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (My all-time favorite!)
  • Mama Mia!
  • Hairspray
  • Jesus Christ Superstar
  • The Lion King
  • Guys and Dolls

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My favorite musical is definitely Wicked! It is three levels above any of the others I’ve seen (RENT, Lion King, Phantom of the Opera)

That is the biggest strawberry I’ve ever seen! I love musicals too. My older sister was in theatre in high school, so we always went to the shows. My favorite is Phatom of the Opera! I’ve seen it on Broadway and in Vegas. I love the movies Hairspray and Chicago, but haven’t seen it live yet. Musicals are wonderful.

I’m slightly obsessed with Legally Blonde: The Musical! It was just to die for! Confession: I was probably the only person that actually watched that MTV Show..Legally Blonde: The Musical- The Search for Elle Woods. So embarassing but I couldn’t help it. Sooo addicting!

holla for carbs! fortunately the carba nada pasta has 12 grams of protein in it, so there was a lil’ protein punch in this lunch!

I’ve seen Wicked, RENT, The King and I, Oklahoma, Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, and Phantom of the Opera. My fave is definitely Phantom! (Although….is that under the musical category or opera? Who knows – but it’s good!)

Musicals are GREAT! I wish I’ve seen more, but the only 2, which were AWESOME, were Beauty & the Beast & Chicago.

Hope your night consists of all “peppy music & violins” and no “dark music” 😉

Oh my goodness, I LOVE musicals. My parents took us to some Broadway shows when I was little (Cats was my first one!), and I’ve been hooked ever since. My all-time favorites– West Side Story, Rent, Chicago, Caberet, The Lion King, The Sound of Music, Avenue Q…sigh. The list goes on and on. 🙂

    Have a great night!

I also love musicals, and wish I could go through life with people breaking into spontaneous, choreographed singing/dancing all around me. I’ve seen:
Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, 42nd Street, Cats, Miss Saigon, Lion King, Wicked, The Sound of Music, and I feel like there’s another one in there that I can’t remember…
My favorites are probably a toss up between Joseph and Phantom.
