A Sadie-centric Weekend

September 30, 2013 by Julie 72 Comments

Good morning!

I arrived in back in Ocala Friday evening after one heck of an incredible trip to Quebec. (I still owe you guys recaps from the final two days!) Ryan and I had a great weekend together and it feels so good to be reunited with my little family again.

I wasn’t in the mood to do anything on Friday night, so we hung out at home, grilled dinner outside and played with Sadie in the backyard. It was perfect!

ryan and sadie

Naturally Sadie reveled in the attention.

Now that I think about it, this weekend was a pretty great one for Miss Sadie. On Saturday we took her to the dog park for lots of playtime before the thunderstorms rolled in. She even got to meet Shadow from Homeward Bound!

Canada 627

Okay, so it wasn’t the Shadow. I mean the Shadow would never try to smell Sadie’s hiney. He’s much too refined.

A little side note for all of my fellow Homeward Bound fans out there: You might enjoy this funny video of a pug watching the end of the movie. He’s clearly rooting for the safe return of all of Sassy, Chance and Shadow, too! So cute.

On Saturday night, Ryan and I joined our friends for a happenin’ evening at the bowling alley.

That is my wildly unattractive Tuna Melts My Heart face. (Please tell me every single one of you are following that dog on Instagram. Tuna Melts My Heart = My favorite Instagram account by a mile.)

On Sunday, after church, Ryan, Sadie and I drove out to discover a new hiking trail located about an hour away from our house in the Withlacoochee state forest. <— Phenomenal name for a state forest, right?

Withlacoochee State Forest

We ended up hiking for much longer than we anticipated and covered just shy of nine miles in three hours. We were pooped by the time we got home and spent the rest of the evening on the couch. It was a perfect Sunday!

Question of the Morning

  • Tell me one highlight from your weekend!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I’ve never seen that instagram before, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to search it now.
It must be so nice to be reunited with Sadie and Ryan again after your time away.
Highlight from my weekend included spending time with friends and family for my birthday.

Fun! I love bowling (not that I’m good or do it regularly, but it’s always fun). It was a baby-centric weekend for me, but spending all of it with the hubby was definitely the highlight.

Sometimes unplanned weekends are the best. I went on a short 3-day and sight seeing different cities in my state (Michigan). We went to Saugatuck, St. Joe, Spriag Port, Grand Haven, South Haven, and Kalamazoon. The scenery couldn’t have been any more perfect–it was the picture perfect sight of fall!! The saddest part was having to go back home. All the cities felt so much safer, the people more friendlier, and people lived life at a slower pace instead of rushing constantly like we do here. Lake Michigan is beautiful this time of year and I found a bunch of sea shells to take back home. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend even if I tried.

My husband and I rented a cabin on Lake Champlain in Vermont. It was a gorgrous Fall weekend with great friends and a beautiful view of Lake Champlain with the Adirondacks behind it.

Not so fun…. Our dog knocked out the screen of the cabin and jumped out the window while we were gone for 5 hours. Thank God she stayed on the back porch and didn’t run off or get hit by a car.

    Welcome back Julie!

After a breathtaking, scenic perfect trip to Quebec, sounds like you had the perfect weekend too 🙂 Ryan and Sadie both look equally HAPPY to have you back, whoohoo.

One highlight of my weekend: after 20 days of trying to lower my cholesterol through diet alone (very healthy clean eating) I have brought it down to a DESIRABLE level, yipeee 🙂
Now I know I must keep at this lifestyle change to reap the rewards of healthy living.

    Blessings!

I did 11.5 miles of walking on Saturday ALLL OVER DC. I also kayaked and did yoga, it was one heck of a day. Sunday I went out to a favorite trail running area and ran a loop of the lake. Twinner weekends! My pup was out of town with daddyo though. She is actually at the vet right now getting spayed (poor thing) so I am using my lunch break to go buy her a new stuffed squeaky toy so when we pick her up today she knows we still love her. Breaks your heart though!!!

Good for Sadie. Sometimes you need a weekend focused on the pup! I felt like we neglected our little doggie this weekend, but we did do some fun things, including trying out a new Dim Sum restaurant. Dim Sum = Chinese Tapas. Feels so much better than eating a giant plate of broccoli n’ beef!

My highlight was just driving to the OC area with my baby and stopping by my old neck of the woords (now I’m in LA, not too far but still a drive when you have a baby sometimes crying in the car, lol) and visiting my parents! I got nostalgic thinking of the days when I lived with them, wahhhh.

I get meet her for the first time this weekend when I’m home for Fall Break! I would always show my Mom your pictures of Sadie because she is adorable! We had a Weimaraner before, and we chose a Vizsla because of them same personality, but a little bit smaller. Here is picture of her from my blog http://erinruppelt.blogspot.com/2013/09/meet-penny.html I will be updating more about her, but I thought I would share 🙂
