A Weekend of Family Fun

April 18, 2016 by Julie 30 Comments

Good morning! How are you guys today? This blog post might be a bit of a flyby post because I want to check in and share a bit about our weekend with you but I’m also anxious to get back to my mom and sister and soak up all the time I can with them before Leslie leaves this afternoon. (My mom is staying through next weekend!)

Julie Leslie

We’ve had such a good time together and one thing is quite clear… Chase absolutely adores his grandma and Aunt Leslie!

Here’s a peek into our weekend:

  • Gymboree Fun

Gymboree Class

My mom and sister were dying to check out Gymboree with Chase after hearing me rave about it and we all attended an afternoon class on Friday. As always, it was an absolute riot! They got a kick out of seeing the babies play and squeal and we laughed a lot at the goofy songs and Chase’s oh-so-serious concentration faces.

  • Sister Workout

Sister Workout

One thing I love about my sister is her willingness to try any kind of workout with me! She’s always up for doing something active and jumped at the chance to take a Saturday morning Burn Boot Camp class. We went through a full-body circuit and she loved it which made me happy since I am clearly a BBC super fan. After our workout, we met back up with my mom and Chase and spent the rest of the morning outside, walking around the neighborhood and enjoying the gorgeous Charlotte sunshine.

  • Chase’s New Wardrobe Additions

Chase Leslie

Chase Grandma

My mom always comes to visit with some little surprises for Chase up her sleeve. When Leslie and I arrived home from our workout on Saturday, my mom had Chase sporting the cutest little bowtie! It was so adorable and we couldn’t stop laughing at our dapper little man. She also gave him the sweetest little footie outfit and came with a bunch of new books to read from their local library. Grandmas are the best!

  • Vanilla Sugar Lattes

not just coffee vanilla sugar latte

After church on Sunday, my mom, Leslie, Chase and I drove into the city to walk around and stop by Not Just Coffee at the 7th Street Public Market for vanilla sugar lattes. Not Just Coffee knows how to make vanilla sugar lattes perfectly… Not too sweet with just the perfect punch of vanilla flavor. They’re the best!

  • Hilarious Bath Time Adventures with Angry Chase

IMG_0339

I texted Ryan this picture of “Angry Chase” immediately after we took it because it made me laugh so hard and he said he thinks he showed it to at least 30 people during his time in Las Vegas. (Apparently that is what inebriated dads do in Vegas? Haha!) Chase is always such a character during his baths and runs through a million difference facial expressions but this angry baby face was a new one that absolutely cracked us up!

  • Lots of Sadie Love

Sadie Fetch

Sadie has been soaking up a ton of extra love from my mom and sister this weekend and loving every second of it. We’ve spent a decent amount of time playing with her outside, cuddling her on the couch and giving her lots of attention. I don’t think her tail has stopped wagging since my mom and sister arrived!

Aaand now I’m off to enjoy every last second I have with my sister before she heads home to Florida. I hope you guys have a wonderful Monday!!

I can’t believe how much older Chase looks compared to last week’s photos! You should caption the bath photo, “You won’t like me when I’m angry.” (from the Hulk)

What a wonderful weekend, Julie! I’m so glad you got to visit with your sister & mom, & Chase is obviously happy about it too! This weekend was so so good. A highlight was seeing my friend from out of town twice & going for a little walk with her & the girls yesterday. It was our first weekend of beautiful spring weather here in Metro Detroit. I hope you have a great week!

Highlight of my weekend was eating my way around the Upper East Side – ice cream, froyo, diner brunch, burger dinner, gluten free pastries and other sweet treats – after exhausting myself at the MORE half marathon. Oh, and my boyfriend not killing me for being so hangry all day after 🙂

Love the photo of Chase. I seriously wonder sometimes what inebriated dads do, apparently that’s it…

Grandmas are so good and spoiling, aren’t they! My mom does the same thing, she always comes bearing gifts and fun toys. My favorite were sunglasses.

LOL the faces he makes are amazing. I am not in a rush to have kids, but you certainly make it tempting lol. He’s so darn cute. Also, you probably already have some..I should look, but I LOVE your workout clothes. You should do a post of all your favorites. I looked at Fabletics recently and I wonder if it’s a good deal. I’m pretty sure those “star” patterns are hers up there.

That is the best angry baby face! It looks like he wants to throat punch someone. Ha!

We had a quiet weekend here. My girls went trail running together a couple of times. I was sad to miss out, but was stuck at home sick.

Unfortunately, I came down with a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE sinus infection over the weekend. Along with that, I was crazy stressed out and working a lot, getting a ton of nosebleeds too 🙁 I’m trying to see the bright side of things though–I did spend quality time with my family, got a lot of footage for my YouTube videos and made lots of yummy new recipes!

The angry Chase picture is hilarious!! I did a lot of driving this weekend (11 hours in a car between two days!) but got to spend some time with my college girlfriends shopping at an outlet mall & celebrating at a bridal shower 🙂 Spring is finally here in NY, so it was BEAUTIFUL out!

Hi Julie! How has moving much further away from family been for you, especially after having Chase?! I’m 4 months pregnant and we’re considering a fairly big move for a new position for my husband – eek. It would be awesome to see a post to see how it’s changed things or how ya’ll make it work! I would miss my family like crazy – even though they’re still an hour away now!
