AllieBar Wrap

March 3, 2011 by Julie 40 Comments

If you’re an avid blog reader like me, then you may have seen AllieBars pop up on numerous blogs. The bars are essentially homemade granola bars created by the beautiful Allie of Live, Laugh, Eat. I was fortunate enough to win an AllieBar giveaway on her blog which landed me a small box full of the bars!

AllieBar in all its Glory

When the package arrived last night, I dug right in! Both Ryan and I ate an AllieBar before our evening walk with Sadie and fell in love.  The bar was sweet, a bit salty and packed full of nuts, fruit and seeds. (Favorite ingredient = Big chunks of pecan)

Pinch of Allie

I knew I just had to have another one for breakfast.

I ate about half of an AllieBar before crumbling the other half on top of some peanut butter and nectarine slices sprinkled with pumpkin pie spice and chia seeds, to make an AllieBar wrap.

Pre-Rolled Wrap

The Goods

So good. I wish I had the recipe for these bars to make them myself, but Allie’s keeping it under wraps because she has plans to sell them one day. Smart girl!

"Gimme More!"

Workout

My workout today included yooooga. Fortunately my mind was relatively quiet until we did a couple of poses that made my hamstrings scream. At that point I went through about five profanities in my mind. Namaste, my friends! 😉

Before yoga, I warmed up my body with 15 minutes on the elliptical and hopped back on the elliptical after class for another 20 minutes.

I came home and took this little girl on a walk before showering, eating breakfast and heading out the door.

"Who? Me?"

Sweet Tater Bake Sale

After 10 a.m. (eastern time), head on over to Katie’s blog to participate in a great fundraiser! She’s raising money for her service trip to Nicaragua. I’m contributing flourless chocolate oatmeal cookies, so feel free to bid on them so I can send you a fun package! 🙂

I’ve seen Allie Bars on all sorts of blogs too and they sound lovely!! Great idea to stick them in a wrap. I usually crumble bars on top of my fruit and yogurt in the morning – not a super exciting combo but I have yet to get bored! 🙂 Have a great day Julie!

I think I can guess the five profanities…the same ones come up in my head too.

The pecans ARE the best part. I usually start each bar by targeting the pecan spots first. Love the wrap idea!

along with my unhealthy cereal problem, I have a granola issue.

SO, on my immediate to-do list is to make granola bars. maybe if it’s in little nugget form, I’ll be less likely to eat it right out of the box. 😉

special k granola, you’re goin’ down.

That wrap looks delicious! Yay for a quiet mind during yoga!! It stinks when you can’t relax and simply enjoy and feel the poses.

Random question…do you wash your hair every day? It looks great – wondered if you had time to style it with your morning workout routine…

haha no, definitely not! i haven’t washed it since tuesday. 🙂 it’s amazing what a little baby powder can do to some greasy hair. i typically wash my hair every other day or about 3x a week.

can i ask how you keep it from getting all gross and sweaty during workouts? I don’t want to wash my hair everyday but feel like I have to after working out.

well, i will always wash if after really sweaty cardio – like intervals or boot camp classes. on days where i just do bodypump, yoga or the elliptical, i don’t sweat that much. if my hair is nasty and sweaty, i’ll definitely wash it!
