Back in Action

December 14, 2010 by Julie 25 Comments

I’m back in action!

It’s amazing what a day of complete rest, hot tea and a double-header of holiday movies can do for your body and mind.

Tea fo' Me

To those of you who recommended that I watch The Holiday, thank you. What a cute movie! I now have a new item on my Christmas list: Those adorable British children. And Cameron Diaz’s hair.

Last night, Ryan and I were in bed by 10 p.m. and I didn’t wake up until 6:45 a.m. That’s almost nine hours of sleep on a “school night!”

I awoke feeling mostly healthy (my throat is still a little sore) and decided to head to the gym to warm up and squeeze in a light cardio workout before heading to work.

I fit all of my “it’s okay to exercise” qualifications and felt up to a work out, so I went for it. (You may read my post about working out when sick here.)

I cut 10 minutes off my typical cardio time and did a total of 40 minutes, with 10 minutes on the stair master and 30 minutes on the elliptical. I didn’t push myself and spent most of the time reading a magazine and zoning out to my iPod.

Breakfast

I came home and took Sadie on a quick walk before preparing my breakfast.

Sadie was not a fan of the cold today! She hung out by the back door as I snapped my breakfast photos.

"Seriously, woman. Hurry up. No one cares about your yogurt."

Apparently it was too chilly for lizard hunting today.

My morning meal was a sweet yogurt bowl that included:

  • Chobani Greek yogurt
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Bartlett pears
  • Tangerine wedges

Fruity and Yogurty

Purdy Colors

It was good, but would’ve been better if the tangerine wedges were seedless… not that spitting out seeds every other bite wasn’t a total blast!

Tuesday Breakfast

Now for that work thing I do most days…

Lata!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

do you think that if ryan and i talk in british accents for the first 5 years of our children’s lives they will have british accents?

Doesn’t hurt to try? I mean, Matt and I are constantly quoting “Love Actually” when Colin goes to Wisconsin and they try to see what words are pronounced differently.

        “Bottle” “Bottle”
        “Table” “Table” . . .”it’s the same”

haha. I always joke that I’m going to speak in an English accent so my children will pick it up. I just love the sound of it so much! 🙂

Lol over here in England, people love the American accents! My little cousins are always trying to pretend they’re American and putting on an accent! 😛

I’m glad you are feeling better — usually when I’m feeling sick I just need to rest all day and then I’m back 100% — after plenty of soup and hot tea too of course 🙂

The quote under Sadie made me crack up. I’m just waiting for my neighbors to see me snapping photos of my yogurt and put the loony bin on speed dial.

I don’t know why, but I can’t stand accents in the movies/TV. If I’m speaking to an actual person it doesn’t bother me at all. But it frustrates the heck out of me when multiple people are doing it in a movie.

    Hey Julie!

I’ve been reading your site for a while and just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Sadie is adorable and fun to hear about, especially since during the school year I’m 600 miles away from my pup. Also, congrats on the wedding! I would imagine it still feels strange to realize you are a “wife” 🙂 You are truly beautiful on the inside and out. The way you are able to stay so upbeat and optimistic regardless of what life throws you is what keeps bringing me back.

    Cheers,
    Liz
