BBQ ‘n’ Frozen Yogurt

March 31, 2012 by Julie 31 Comments

We made it to the barbeque competition!

Unfortunately by the time we arrived around 2:30 p.m., it seemed like the event was winding down.

We didn’t hurry to get there because the website said the hours were 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but I’m guessing the lunchtime crowd came and went by the time we arrived.

Ryan and I spent our morning taking Sadie for a three-mile hike before heading home for lunch.

While Ryan emptied our dishwasher, I got to work on lunch. A good trade if you ask me!

I made us mesquite chicken breasts (two for Ryan) and roasted green beans that we ate with toasted English muffins spread with a bit of Smart Balance.

After lunch, we planned to waste about an hour around the house before heading over to the barbeque competition, but then our power went out! We were trapped since our garage door wouldn’t open – or so we thought.

Ryan figured that he could somehow manually open it and thankfully freed us so we leave.

I expected the barbeque competition to be like a much smaller version of the Florida Strawberry Festival, but it was way more low key. One thing was for certain – it smelled fantastic!

We headed over to the one booth where people seemed to gather and sampled some incredible ribs from this nice man.

I wanted to buy the barbeque sauce that they used on the ribs, but unfortunately it wasn’t for sale. It was fantastic!

Since Ryan and I were a little bummed about the lack of excitement at the barbeque competition, we decided to lift our spirits with some frozen yogurt on our way home.

I felt instantly better!

I filled my cup with a combination of the best cheesecake frozen yogurt I’ve ever had and a delicious chocolate coconut truffle flavor. I topped everything with toffee pieces, freshly sliced strawberries and whipped cream.

(Sorry I started eating before I thought to snap a picture. Frozen yogurt will do that to ya.)

Ryan went with white chocolate and cookies ‘n’ cream frozen yogurt topped with sprinkles.

That boy is an Oreo lover through and through. My mom even made him a homemade Oreo ice cream cake one year for his birthday! If cookies ‘n’ cream is on the menu anywhere, I know Ryan will order it.

Now we’re back at home where we plan to spend the rest of the day. We’re thinking movie night on the couch sounds perfect!

Despite the slightly unappetizing title of this post, I came away craving Froyo more than I think I ever have!

Cheesecake! mmmmmmm. Good choice, girl. (BBQ froyo, however, I think I’d pass on). 😉

They have a Peachwave where we just moved to in Georgia, but I haven’t gotten to try it yet. Do you like it, in comparison to other frozen yogurt shops? It looks great! 🙂

I love self-serve frozen yogurt places! They’re so fun, although I always have a tough time deciding which flavors and toppings to get – so many possibilities!

I want to try the chocolate coconut yogurt! Wonder who I can talk into going for frozen yogurt tonight…

We lost electric once and I knew to pull the red handle to release the door from the electronic system for manual use. What I didn’t realize was the electric door open actually lifts the door higher than I did manually. Then I heard a crunch as I backed out. Crap! I ripped part of my luggage rack off my SUV. Lesson learned.

If you and Ryan pass a Chili’s anytime soon, you should stop in for their Oreo Molten! It’s amazing! Reading about how Ryan loves Cookies and Cream made me think about it, and how amazing it is! The inside tastes like the Oreo Cream!! It’s only there for a limited time though! 🙁

Funny, I was thinking…Ryan’s froyo sounds the best. I will eat anything if it has Oreos in it. And rainbow (no chocolate!) sprinkles are my second fave. Ryan and I should be frozen yogurt BFFs.

Disappointing that the BBQ wasn’t more of an event… but froyo ALWAYS makes things better 🙂

I meant to tell you a few weeks ago but I was in Atlanta visiting my boyfriend and we went to The Woodfire Grill per your blog post and I must say – one of the best meals that I’ve EVER had!! Thanks for the recommendation!

I recently became accustomed to frozen yogurt. Salted caramel fro yo to be exact. I am glad I don’t live really close to it or that could be a mighty dangerous thing. 😉
