Blanket Fort

February 10, 2015 by Julie 80 Comments

Good morning from Sadie’s blanket fort!

blanket fort

Sadie is used to our early morning gym routine by now. When the alarm goes off, she follows us downstairs, jumps onto the couch and gives us her guilt trip eyes until we lift up a blanket for her to curl under. She stays there until we get home from the gym when she proceeds to follow me around the kitchen hoping for a taste or two of my breakfast scraps. Not a bad morning routine if you ask me!

Workout + Breakfast

After tucking Sadie into her blanket fort, Ryan headed off to the gym and I headed off to teach Spinning. I was wide awake when the alarm went off this morning, so I fortunately arrived to class feeling rather energetic for a 6 a.m. ride.

Sixty minutes later, class was over and my workout for the day was done. Check!

After cleaning up a bit and talking with some gym members for a little while, I drove home ready for breakfast.

My morning meal began with a small bowl of granola and a Honeycrisp apple that I ate while preparing a hot bowl of scrambled eggs.

My eggs lately have been on point thanks to the creamy wedges of The Laughing Cow cheese that I stir in at the very end. They really add so much flavor and I feel like I taste the cheese in every last bite when I stir them in at the end rather than while the eggs are cooking. Just a little tip for those out there who are on the cheesy egg train like me right now!

Now that I have breakfast in my belly, it’s time to grab a hot shower, change into fresh gym clothes and drive back to work. I hope you guys have a wonderful Tuesday!!

P.S. I just signed this blog post “Sincerely, Julie” – What!? Maybe I’m not as awake as I think!!

When we had our dog he definitely had a morning routine. He’d come over to the bed and wake me up with his wet nose, I’d let him out, feed him, and then he’d curl up and fall right back to sleep. I wish it would have been that easy for me to go back to bed.

Sadie must find NC cold … hence the blankets. I have learned to check the cover lumps on the bed as the second I am out of it cats crawl under the covers – and often get sat on.

Is Ryan a member of the gym where you work? It is so nice that you are able to head out in the mornings together. Have a good Tuesday!

My cat definitely has our routine down! She’s always outside the bedroom door crying to get let in as soon as our alarm goes off. The dog usually doesn’t make an appearance until she hears us making breakfast downstairs 🙂
Those eggs look DELICIOUS. I need to by me some Laughing Cow! Thanks for sharing!

My pup knows my morning routine to a tee. He sleeps in with my husband while I’m at the gym then greets me at the door when I get back. It’s so adorable! Also, after I take him out he goes back to sleep (on my pillow!!). Lucky Duck!

My greyhound has a morning lazy routine. She moves from her bed in the bedroom, to her bed in the living room (the couch) and remains there almost all morning. I’m convinced that if I didn’t make her go outside, she wouldn’t get up until I get back from class after noon!

My husband kicks me out of the bed every morning at 5 to go to the gym together before work. It’s always a rough start for me as I am not a morning person at all but it feels so good to have your workout done for the day before 7am!

I can’t even put into words how MUCH my dog Phisher knows the morning routine. We have two fur-babies, but Layla is not nearly as interested in waking up “on time” as Phish is. I typically wake (on a weekday) at 4:15 a.m,. for my workout. If I even CONTEMPLATE moving at any point from 3:30 a.m. on, Phish is up and at ’em without further ado. Honestly, he’s like a puppy alarm clock. Even on the weekends when I’m not aiming for a 5 a.m. workout, he’s par for the course early on — tail thumping against the wall, chin rested on the edge of the bed, culminating in a half-jump with two paws across my back (he weighs 80 lbs. sooooooo… the struggle is real). I am happy to hear that this is a puppy-trend nationwide!

My dogs Rhett and Reina have routine too. My routine got thrown off this morning and I have Reina (who is 50 lbs) Rhett’s (who is 18 lbs) food and vice versa. I had a dachshund who was chowing down like crazy and a boxer staring at an empty bowl. Woops!

My dog always gets up at 5 am with me, I let him out to pee and then he goes back into the bedroom And sleeps until my boyfriend wakes up, or I get home from running. It’s pretty hilarious.

My puppy definitely knows when it’s getting to be time for me to leave in the morning. She follows me around the house like crazy thinking maybe it will make me change my mind. Then she looks at me with her sad eyes and tries to make me feel guilty when I leave.

Yeah my husband gets up early while I sleep in. My dog sleeps on her own bed next to ours during the night. But when my husband gets up and takes her out to the bathroom, she immediately comes to the bed and looks up longingly. So then I let her up and we snuggle for a bit. It is the best part of the day. 🙂

My dog totally knows the routine – when I head into the bathroom to get ready she plunks herself by the door and gives me those sad eyes.

Bear has unfortunately figured out the one surefire way to wake me up in the morning- whining in my ear. But after he gets let out I go back to bed, and he falls asleep in bed with me. Sometimes on me. This morning it was on my face.
I’ll take all the cuddling I can get.
