Calamari Craving

February 28, 2013 by Julie 86 Comments

This morning I spent some time updating my blog’s media kit. (If you’re a blogger and want to make your own media kit but don’t know where to begin, I highly recommend Katy’s blog post: How to Make a Media Kit for Your Blog.)

It took me a while because I am quite an amateur when it comes to creating pretty much anything on the computer. Plus, I did the entire thing in Microsoft Word which isn’t exactly a breeze when it comes to formatting.  I swear, if there’s a way to do something in Word, I will always use it. It’s like my computer safety net.

Lunch today started and ended with fruit.

First, a nectarine!

nectarine

Followed by a peanut butter, chocolate and banana smoothie. Emphasis on the peanut butter. Yes!

Smoothie with PB and Banana

Into the blender went:

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 heaping spoonful peanut butter <—best part!
  • 1 spoonful cocoa powder
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 2 large handfuls fresh spinach
  • Enough 2% milk to get everything moving

Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Once I was finished with my smoothie, I felt full but got the strangest craving for calamari. Not sure where that one came from!

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is the strangest craving you’ve experienced recently?

My calamari craving today came out of nowhere and the other day I found myself craving my beloved Ben & Jerry’s oatmeal cookie chunk ice cream that I cannot find ANYWHERE.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I had the strongest craving for olives recently. It was crazy. But what cracks me up, is that I blogged about it, and ever since then, one of the most searched items that leads people to my blog is “craving olives”. lol. Guess I’m not the only one!

I have no idea what it is, but lately I’ve been craving salsa like CRAZY. So much so, that I have no problem just eating it straight from the jar with a spoon. That being said, I definitely prefer it accompanied by some guacamole, tortilla chips, and cheese 😀

I know what I am craving NOW. I love that you know about that flavor! I discovered it at the on campus convenience store in college. My brother used to work at a Ben & Jerry’s and he said it wasn’t very popular so they stopped serving it at the scoop shops. Lucky for me there is a local ice cream shop down the street from me that sells oatmeal cookie chunk 🙂 Love the cinnamon flavored ice cream. Sadly, a cone is about $7 here in DC, otherwise I would have a serious addiction.

I’ve been meaning to make a media kit, but I’m so confused on the whole thing haha. Even after reading about it, I’m more of a visual person so I need to see it being done first, it’s kind of hard to get the know off the internet.
Lately, I’ve been having mad banana cravings. I’ve put them in almost everything, even though I wasn’t eating them barely at all before. Oh well, fine by me;)

I had a strong and intense craving for figs the other day!
I went to 4 stores, but no one sold fresh ones, so I got some dried figs and they are still hitting the spot!

But mmm, I love calamari! Especially the tentacley bits!

Yummm… I love me some calamari! Recently I’ve had an overwhelming craving for sushi. I think I’m actually going to try to satisfy it tonight and pick up a couple veggie rolls from Whole Foods. I can’t wait to eat the raw stuff again, but hopefully this will suffice for now!

I had a major craving for eggs with a side of rice the other day. It seemed totally crazy to me until I looked online and saw that there is a type of rice wrapped in an egg that is popular in either Japan or Korea. I saw both countries when I was looking online. I’ll have to try it out.

PowerPoint is my go-to place for creating anything on my computer that’s more than just text. It’s so easy to create a text box and place it wherever I want it and then add a pic in a random spot. My boss made fun of me for this when he saw me creating a document one time, but it’s not like he ever noticed based on the work I produced 🙂

Me too! It’s so easy to just change the page size and orientation and then go to town. As part of a cost-cutting effort, my department had me put together our company newsletter and the only software I have is MS Office, so I did a full 16 page spread in PPT. Julie, if you’re comfortable with the menus in Word, PPT isn’t that bad of a transition, and it gives you quite a bit more control over placement and design.

I can’t say that I think I’d ever have a craving for calamari (the consistency throws me for a loop), but I have a craving for peanut butter at least once per day (usually more). As far as a more unusual craving goes, I had a HUGE hankering for Cheerios yesterday (and went to town on several bowls!)
