Cereal Issues

August 26, 2011 by Julie 98 Comments

As a child I never really ate cereal for breakfast. My sister was the cereal queen. I preferred Eggo waffles, oatmeal, Toaster Strudels (oh baby!) and cinnamon toast.

Nowadays I find myself oddly excited by cereal for breakfast. Ryan and I never really have cereal in our home because it’s not something Ryan really cares for and I have the ability to take down an entire box in one sitting. Yes, I have “cereal issues.”

My parents, however, have a great selection of cereal in their pantry and I get all too excited about combining various cereals into one bowl for breakfast or a mid-morning snack.

IMG_5647-1

This morning’s combo included Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Frosted Mini Wheats and Honey Bunches of Oats.

IMG_5649-2

And you know I refilled that bowl two more times. Cereal is so addicting!

The rest of the morning will be spent working and digesting until I feel like I can get my booty to the gym for a brief workout. I’d love to take Sadie for a run outside, but I’m afraid I might have missed my weather window since it’s already 83 degrees.

I don’t buy cereal because I’ll eat the whole box in a day. Self control much? Nope, not here 🙂
But I love when I get to visit someone with cereal… it’s such an addicting treat!

Cereal is absolutely a love of mine– and my problem is that I don’t ONLY find it acceptable for breakfast 😀

Breakfast, lunch & dinner are all acceptable in my book

Toaster strudels used to make me SO frustrated because if you stuck them in the toaster once, the inside stayed frozen. If you sent them through the toaster TWICE then the corners got black. I guess as a kid I never thought of defrosting them in the microwave first.

The goo inside them always burned the roof of my mouth too…guess I was impatient?

I love cereal too. I grew up the cereal queen in my house. I still maintain that the best part about living in the dorm and being on the meal plan was the cereal buffet that was available every day. I mean talk about dreams come true.

Toaster Strudels were my favorite growing up – although I hated the fact that they never cooked properly. To get them completely warm on the inside the outside had to get pretty toasty, aka brunt. Maybe it was just my toaster oven or maybe I was too impatient.

I have cereal issues as well. One bowl is never enough.

    Happy Friday!

Our LOW right now is 86, so 83 would feel like perfect running weather to me! Good ol’ Texas. When it ‘dropped’ to 95 for one day, 2 weeks ago, I was so excited to get to run after work. I think it’s all relative, because if it hit 95 in May or something I would have deemed it way too hot to run yet after being 111 for 2 months it feels so much cooler! Crazy huh?

I like to make cereal bars with my favorite cereals and bring them places, like dessert, that way they portioned out, and I won’t eat all of them. (though I could)
