Cheese Toast: 5 Ways

April 26, 2016 by Julie 28 Comments

A deliciously crunchy and creamy slice of asiago cheese toast is a satisfying snack that can be transformed with endless toppings to create a tasty slice of toast you can’t wait to snack on when hunger strikes! Thank you to The Laughing Cow® for teaming up with me to share five different asiago cheese toast combinations! I am an official brand advocate for The Laughing Cow® in 2016. While I receive compensation for participation as a brand advocate, opinions are my own.

Cheese Toast 5 Ways

I’m sure by now you guys have seen a billion avocado toast combinations out there. Avocado toast is so tasty and definitely a personal favorite, but it seemed to come into popularity more recently and left me wondering what happened to the classics like cinnamon toast, cheese toast and simple toast with jelly and butter!

As a kid, one of my favorite after-school snacks was cheese toast. I’d place a slice of cheese on a piece of bread and stick it in the toaster oven until the cheese melted. It was so darn good and simple and while I still love a classic piece of cheese toast from time to time, today I’m excited to team up with The Laughing Cow® to #ReinventSnacking and put a fun new spin on traditional cheese toast!

Cheese Toast - Five Ways

If you guys have been reading PBF for a while, you already know I’m a big fan of The Laughing Cow® spreadable cheese wedges. In my first trimester and the beginning of my second trimester, scrambled eggs with a wedge or two of The Laughing Cow® cheese stirred in was one of my biggest cravings! (It’s a winning combination you must try if you haven’t already. So creamy and cheesy!)

Pizza Cheese Toast

Today’s cheese toast combinations are perfect for when hunger strikes in the middle of the dreaded mid-afternoon slump. They feel a little more special than typical snack foods and a crisp slice of toast topped with a creamy wedge of cheese and some additional toppings creates the perfect snack time pick-me-up!

Cheese Toast Snack Ideas

Below you will find a few cheese toast combinations I put together with The Laughing Cow® Creamy Asiago cheese wedges.

Cheese Toast: 5 Ways

I started with a base of multigrain bread and, after toasting it lightly, spread a wedge of The Laughing Cow® Creamy Asiago cheese on top before adding the following toppings:

  • Smoked Salmon with Scallions

Smoked Salmon Toast

The inspiration for this combination came from the traditional breakfast of bagels with cream cheese and lox but I revamped a bit for a snack time delight! Salmon is my favorite fish, so anytime I can incorporate it into my diet, I’m a fan. The flavor is fantastic and it’s such a great source of healthy omega-3s!

  • Sliced Hard Boiled Egg with Red Onion, Salt and Pepper

Hard Boiled Egg Cheese Toast

The egg salad lover in me thought this combination was a winner. The red onion gave this cheese toast the perfect amount of zip! It was also incredibly satisfying thanks to the punch of protein from the egg.

  • Thinly Sliced Pear with Salted Sunflower Seeds

Pear Sunflower Seed Toast

I’ve always been a sucker for sweet and savory flavor combinations, so adding a punch of sweetness in the form of fresh fruit slices to a zesty piece of asiago cheese toast was right up my alley. And the sunflower seeds provided the perfect salty crunch!

  • Tomato Slices with Pepperoni and Basil

Pizza Toast Recipe

Pizza tiiiime! I loved this cheesy combination and couldn’t get enough of the slightly spicy pepperoni and fresh basil. I think this one might be a hit with kids, too!

  • Cucumber with Thinly Sliced Radish, Salt and Pepper

Cucumber Toast

Anytime I can incorporate vegetables into my snacks in a delicious way, I am a fan. The crisp, refreshing cucumber and radish slices were a wonderful addition to a tasty slice of creamy asiago cheese toast!

Oh the smoked salmon one looks really good to me!! I have to admit, I just love avocado toast and don’t usually venture too much when it comes to toast. But I do love almond or peanut butter with banana slices and honey! yum!

Great combos! Just a note, your photo of the salmon and chives combo looks like it’s green onions (which are also called scallions) and not chives.

Hi Julie, these look awesome! Just curious, what brand of multigrain bread do you use? I’ve been using Ezekiel bread but want to switch it up.

The pear and sunflower seed toast looks AMAZING! Def love the sweet and savory combos. Not a toast, but I’ve been snacking on fresh ricotta with honey and sea salt, which is the BEST snack! Also, what app do you use to get the adorable fonts on your pictures? LOVE IT!

These all sound so delicious! I’ve never tried any of these combinations, but I definitely need too because I love cheese and toast. I like boring toast and PB and am also a big fan of toast with avocado, egg, and bacon.

Toast is about as fancy as I get when “cooking” in the morning. Sometimes for lunch I make an over-medium egg and eat it on top of a piece of toast with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese on it.

These seriously look so tasty and I’m such a fan of quick satisfying snacks. The salmon one and the sweet/savory with the pears re calling my name.
