Come to Me for Cuddles

April 6, 2011 by Julie 79 Comments

After work today I swung by Target and spent nearly $70 on a buttload of paper towels, my favorite gummy vitamins, some storage containers and gum (impulse buy).

I’m beginning to think it’s impossible to go to Target without spending at least $50. Target is where my money goes to die.

Dog Park

I arrived home to a hyper dog. Ryan and I knew tonight was the perfect night for a family trip to the dog park.

Sadie was stoked!

As usual, she looked to Ryan to throw her ball after ball…

I tried to be cool and throw the ball…

But Sadie still preferred Ryan’s throws.

They’re quite the dynamic duo. Smile

We spent nearly an hour at the park before our stomachs told us it was time to head home for dinner.

Dinner

Ryan enjoyed a hodgepodge of leftovers, but I wasn’t in the mood for reheated grub and decided to make myself a smoothie bowl instead.

I wanted something sweet!

DSC_0556

Into the Vitamix I threw:

  • 1 c. frozen strawberries
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 heaping scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 pinch xanthan gum
  • 1 large handful fresh spinach
  • l large spoonful peanut butter (1 1/2 – 2 tbsp.?)

While I blended everything up, I also ate a plain whole wheat tortilla because I wanted something doughy.

The smoothie bowl was so, so good! I literally slurped it down while proclaiming, “This is exactly what I’m in the mood for!” I should do smoothies for dinner more often. Now that I think about it, I should also bring back breakfast for dinner…

I totally agree with you on Target. I always manage to buy things that I never had any intention of buying. It’s crazy!

I love that smoothie bowl! It looks so good! A dinner and dessert all in one! 🙂

I’ve never thought to have a smoothie for dinner, that’s perfect for when it gets hotter! Have you thought about getting a “chuck it”? I fail at throwing the ball but the chuck it is AWESOME!

My man calls Target the $100 Store….because I never leave without spending $100….wah wah wahhhhh. It’s bad news bears – I will openly admit that I’m a sucker for all gimicks and tricks and fall for their “I look cleaner and tidier that Wal-Mart so everything is nicer here” image every single time and instantly love everything in the store when I walk in.

Target and the grocery store at my downfalls. I go in for one item and come out with a cart full. And now, with Target’s credit card you save 5% every time you buy something. Talk about an added bonus (as long as you can pay the card off right away).

Goodness it is IMPOSSIBLE to go to target and spend less than $50, or even $100 depending on how much time I have to walk around.

I just got back from Target and spotted those Funky Monkey fruit things you talked about a while back. Only $1.99. I love, love, love Target. I am addicted to couponing (not an extreme one…my family is grateful for that), but can’t go there without spending a boatload as well. FYI if you didn’t know it you can get Target coupons on their website and you can combine a regular Target coupon with one from the Sunday flyer.
Also, had to add that I love the pics. of you, Ryan and Sadie. Too cute.

Julie you, Sadie, & Ryan are too cute! My boyman has a puppy named Sadie too (she’s a recued red nosed pit) and she likes it when he throws the ball better than when I do too! Mine don’t go quite as far or fast hehe! But you’re right- they come to us for the cuddles!

Your family is so sweet! Thanks for the pics & the upbeat posts!

Sadie is so cute! I take my dog to the local dog park almost every night and she LOVES it. She cries the whole way over to the park.

What do you have protein powder for? I’m curious to introduce it into some of my meals/snacks but need recommendations and wanted to see what benefits you get from it. Thanks!

i use it for the simple aspect of incorporating more protein into my diet in a relatively inexpensive and tasty way. more protein keeps me feeling more satisfied for longer than a simple carb-heavy meal would.
