Dog Eye Boogers

October 6, 2010 by Julie 47 Comments

Looking for a super-fast and healthy breakfast?

Fruit & Yogurt Plate

Grab a cup of Greek yogurt and some fresh fruit and you’re good to go!

This breakfast came together in a flash and I loved every bite.

Strawberry Banana Greek Yog

My body was craving fruit and a ripe banana and juicy peach fit the bill perfectly.

Naner

Just Peachy

I also enjoyed a hot tumbler of Mighty Leaf Rainforest Mate tea that was fruity and spicy.

Guuuulp

Dog Eye Boogers

Is is just me or do doggie eye boogers drive any of you guys crazy, too?

Eye Boog

Do you see it?

I swear Sadie’s eyes fill with eye boogers constantly. I feel like I’m constantly wiping them away for her.

God bless my future children. I have a feeling I’ll be the mom constantly running up to them with a tissue in my hand saying “Blow.” After all, nobody likes a Mr. Sniffles. 😉

I thought my dog had something wrong with him because he’s had eye boogers popping up a lot lately too! Maybe it’s seasonal?? Hopefully!

Have you and Sadie gotten to the point where you can wipe them away with your hand and wipe them off on your jeans?

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do that! Even when I have children.

I’m exactly the same…except not with a dog – with my boyfriend. God bless him. I’m constantly “picking” at him – fixing his collar, wiping food off his face…. He calls me a monkey since monkeys pick bugs off each other.

I completely understand the obsession with dog eye boogers. With TWO dogs, I get to deal with double the boogers. You add my mom’s dog in the mix, and it’s just an endless cycle 🙂

Hey Julie! I have been a subscriber to your blog for a while now and it’s one of my absolute favorites! I read it everyday. I totally pitched your monthly date idea to my boyfriend and he loved the idea. I notice you do the Bodypump class alot and I’ve only heard of it through your blog, so I have no idea what it is. But! now my gym (all the way over here near San Francisco) is introducing the class this week! So no we will have it! I can’t wait to give it a try to see what you’ve been talking about. Oh and I totally get annoyed by animal eye boogers too! I think they’re gross, but have to clean them at the same time, so I totally take my dogs own ears and wipe them away with that 😉 hahaha

With our 2 Vizsla’s, one definitely gets more boogers than the other. Every morning I clean them out but what I hate is when I miss them or he grows a new one and then shakes his head and now its on the wall somewhere. We’ve got all these tiny brown dots on our walls. That stuff is like cement!

I don’t have pets, but eye boogers would drive me nuts too — only because I know how annoyed I get when I have them in the AM!

That banana is the “perfect” banana to me — ripe with some brown spots.

Omigah my daughter (aka golden retriever whom I treat as if she is my first born) always has eye boogies TOO! I wipe her eyes at least three times a day. She doesn’t seem to mind though. First thing in the morning when she wakes up she walks up to me and puts her face close to mine as if asking to have the eye boogies wiped away. She just sits patiently when I do then she’s ready to start her day! You have to keep their eyes clean or else they get crusty and gross.

Came across you page when I was searching for “eye boogers for dogs”. Basically from what my vet told me and from my own reasearch. If the color of the “booger” is yellow or yellow-green then you should take your dog to the vet, could be an infection. Also, different breeds produce more or less “boogers”. My pup is a redbone coonhound and he is an eye booger machine! So, hounds, cocker spaniels or and dog with a winkles face or loose skin around its face will probably produce more eye boogers than other dogs. Just cause of drainage stuff like that. By all means, I am no expert so if you think there’s a problem go to your vet. Cute dog by the way!

It’s almost a year since the last comment but here’s one more–googling for endless eyeboogers brought me here. My little german rottietriever furball has them like CRAZY, but the vet said the same as the last commenter. Gross.
