Drawer Food + Giveaway

March 10, 2011 by Julie 676 Comments

With the pest control guy stopping by our apartment this morning, my head was all over the place. I completely forgot to bring my totally-packed lunch (and all of my snacks!) to work. Bummer!

Thankfully I keep an emergency stash of soup in a drawer at my desk so I have something to eat should a food emergency surface. (Apparently I keep lots of fun stuff in my desk drawers!)

Foodie Drawer

Also in the drawer: A crap-ton of tea, honey, jelly, hot chocolate, utensils, lady products 😉 and miscellaneous personal papers. Things not in the drawer: peanut butter. I tried this once and the whole jar was gone in three days. Three days. And it wasn’t even specialty flavored peanut butter. I’m a mess.

Around lunchtime today I rummaged through the drawer and selected a can of Progresso chicken barley soup.

I also purchased a pack of honey roasted peanuts for $.50 from the little café on the second floor of our building to add some healthy fats and protein to my meal.

Fat: Check! Protein: Check!

This makeshift meal was surprisingly pretty darn good. Drawer food to the rescue!

Before moving on to some giveaway fun, I just wanted to let you know that the Fashion page was updated!

Now let’s get to it.

Funky Monkey Giveaway

As promised, I have a fun giveaway for you guys today! On Tuesday I tried Funky Monkey freeze dried fruit for the first time and loved every sweet, crunchy bite.

Funky Monkey

Along with the delicious flavor and fun texture, I am a big fan of the simple ingredients in the snacks… just freeze dried fruit. That’s it. Win!

Now you have a chance to win a pack of each flavor of Funky Monkey snacks. (You should get seriously psyched for the pineapple guava and apple cinnamon flavors!)

To enter this giveaway, simply comment below with the name of your all-time favorite fruit and your favorite way to enjoy it.

Example: I love bananas and they’re the jam in banana splits!

I will randomly select a winner tomorrow afternoon. GOOD LUCK!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I wish my snack drawer at work was half as organized as yours. It looks like the grocery store threw up in it!

My all-time fave fruit might be apricots. Yep. Apricots.

All time favourite fresh fruit is apples – doused with cinnamon, raisins, peanut butter/caramel drizzle, and chocolate chips.
But don’t even get me started on dried, unsulfured mango slices!!

I seriously love strawberries. I eat them on everything. The best way I enjoy them is to add them to a PB sandwich. Nothing like creamy PB with the sweetness of strawberries.

Yes, I cannot be trusted with an open jar of peanut butter. I would take “just one more spoonful”. Next thing you know, it’s gone!

My favorite fruit would be strawberries, espcially with some angel food cake and REAL whipped cream.

I am a lover of all fruits, but my favorite is a tie: pomegranate or star fruit! As a little girl, my mom would always try to expand my horizon on food (which I’m so thankful for today because I’m the least picky eater ever!) and she’d always pick out fun and different things to try when we were at the grocery store. Pomegranate and star fruits were a big hit!
