Drawer Food + Giveaway

March 10, 2011 by Julie 676 Comments

With the pest control guy stopping by our apartment this morning, my head was all over the place. I completely forgot to bring my totally-packed lunch (and all of my snacks!) to work. Bummer!

Thankfully I keep an emergency stash of soup in a drawer at my desk so I have something to eat should a food emergency surface. (Apparently I keep lots of fun stuff in my desk drawers!)

Foodie Drawer

Also in the drawer: A crap-ton of tea, honey, jelly, hot chocolate, utensils, lady products 😉 and miscellaneous personal papers. Things not in the drawer: peanut butter. I tried this once and the whole jar was gone in three days. Three days. And it wasn’t even specialty flavored peanut butter. I’m a mess.

Around lunchtime today I rummaged through the drawer and selected a can of Progresso chicken barley soup.

Sluuuurp

I also purchased a pack of honey roasted peanuts for $.50 from the little café on the second floor of our building to add some healthy fats and protein to my meal.

Fat: Check! Protein: Check!

This makeshift meal was surprisingly pretty darn good. Drawer food to the rescue!

Before moving on to some giveaway fun, I just wanted to let you know that the Fashion page was updated!

Now let’s get to it.

Funky Monkey Giveaway

As promised, I have a fun giveaway for you guys today! On Tuesday I tried Funky Monkey freeze dried fruit for the first time and loved every sweet, crunchy bite.

Funky Monkey

Along with the delicious flavor and fun texture, I am a big fan of the simple ingredients in the snacks… just freeze dried fruit. That’s it. Win!

Now you have a chance to win a pack of each flavor of Funky Monkey snacks. (You should get seriously psyched for the pineapple guava and apple cinnamon flavors!)

To enter this giveaway, simply comment below with the name of your all-time favorite fruit and your favorite way to enjoy it.

Example: I love bananas and they’re the jam in banana splits!

I will randomly select a winner tomorrow afternoon. GOOD LUCK!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My new favorite fruit is a pomegrantate, for sure! I always saw them in the store and wanted to try them, but couldn’t figure out how to eat them until I watched your handy-dandy video about them, so thank you for introducing me to the best fruit EVER 🙂

Bananas are by far my favorite fruit – and I enjoy them paired with practically ANY food. But – my favorite is defintely a frozen banana – with melted dark chocolate. Dip the frozen naner in the chocolate – and the chocolate immediate hardens. A quick chocolate covered banana. Deliciousness

AHHH! I would die for these — they sounded so delicious in your yogurt bowl the other day!

I am seriously a fruitaholic — I’ve never met a fruit I don’t LOVE! I would have to say though, lately, that I’m becoming quite obsessed with mangoes. They are delicious in smoothies, on their own or diced into some fage yogurt with agave and granola. Mmmm, I think I need to go get one now!

Thanks for hosting such a bomb.com giveaway 😉

I wasn’t sure I had a favorite until I went a week without bananas!!! They are definitely my favorite fruit and I love them in my morning green smoothies – or with nut butter (or, if we’re being honest, chocolate syrup or dipped in chocolate pudding)… So ok, I pretty much like bananas ANY WAY POSSIBLE!

I eat at least one apple a day. Besides keeping any nearby doctors away, I love the taste of them, especially freshly picked from the farmers market. Apples are so common, but they’re really the perfect snack. No peeling, sticky fingers, packaging–just perfect as is!
