Drawer Food + Giveaway

March 10, 2011 by Julie 676 Comments

With the pest control guy stopping by our apartment this morning, my head was all over the place. I completely forgot to bring my totally-packed lunch (and all of my snacks!) to work. Bummer!

Thankfully I keep an emergency stash of soup in a drawer at my desk so I have something to eat should a food emergency surface. (Apparently I keep lots of fun stuff in my desk drawers!)

Foodie Drawer

Also in the drawer: A crap-ton of tea, honey, jelly, hot chocolate, utensils, lady products 😉 and miscellaneous personal papers. Things not in the drawer: peanut butter. I tried this once and the whole jar was gone in three days. Three days. And it wasn’t even specialty flavored peanut butter. I’m a mess.

Around lunchtime today I rummaged through the drawer and selected a can of Progresso chicken barley soup.

I also purchased a pack of honey roasted peanuts for $.50 from the little café on the second floor of our building to add some healthy fats and protein to my meal.

Fat: Check! Protein: Check!

This makeshift meal was surprisingly pretty darn good. Drawer food to the rescue!

Before moving on to some giveaway fun, I just wanted to let you know that the Fashion page was updated!

Now let’s get to it.

Funky Monkey Giveaway

As promised, I have a fun giveaway for you guys today! On Tuesday I tried Funky Monkey freeze dried fruit for the first time and loved every sweet, crunchy bite.

Funky Monkey

Along with the delicious flavor and fun texture, I am a big fan of the simple ingredients in the snacks… just freeze dried fruit. That’s it. Win!

Now you have a chance to win a pack of each flavor of Funky Monkey snacks. (You should get seriously psyched for the pineapple guava and apple cinnamon flavors!)

To enter this giveaway, simply comment below with the name of your all-time favorite fruit and your favorite way to enjoy it.

Example: I love bananas and they’re the jam in banana splits!

I will randomly select a winner tomorrow afternoon. GOOD LUCK!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I actually saw these in the grocery store the other day.

My favorite is banana. I split it down the middle and slop on some almond butter or sunflower seed butter and put the other half back on again. It’s so good!

I am completely obsessed with apples. I swear half of every paycheck goes towards apples. It’s bad.
As for my favorite way to eat them…well…besides in Apple Pie 🙂 I’m a fan of cutting a refrigerated apple into teeny tiny thin slices so it takes me forever to eat it!

I can’t pick just one favorite fruit! It’s like picking a favorite child. Fresh cherries: straight off the stem. Cold watermelon: after a long run. Mango: on top of my sushi (or frozen in my vodka soda). Strawberries: on top of waffles with whipped cream and syrup. Blueberries: in my smoothie. Bananas: smothered in peanut butter. Okay, I’m done!

Such a hard question! Raspberries, strawberries, really any berry all by themselves or in smoothies. But right now I’d have to say NECTARINES straight from the farmer’s market because I’m really missing summer fruits right now.

How clever it is to keep good, wholesome food in your drawer at work. And I would eat the pb if I left it in there too 😉

As far as fruit goes, I LOVE to munch on fresh pineapple pieces. Once I figured out that cutting it wasn’t so intimidating, I’ve enjoyed eating it much more often!
