Drawer Food + Giveaway

March 10, 2011 by Julie 676 Comments

With the pest control guy stopping by our apartment this morning, my head was all over the place. I completely forgot to bring my totally-packed lunch (and all of my snacks!) to work. Bummer!

Thankfully I keep an emergency stash of soup in a drawer at my desk so I have something to eat should a food emergency surface. (Apparently I keep lots of fun stuff in my desk drawers!)

Foodie Drawer

Also in the drawer: A crap-ton of tea, honey, jelly, hot chocolate, utensils, lady products 😉 and miscellaneous personal papers. Things not in the drawer: peanut butter. I tried this once and the whole jar was gone in three days. Three days. And it wasn’t even specialty flavored peanut butter. I’m a mess.

Around lunchtime today I rummaged through the drawer and selected a can of Progresso chicken barley soup.

I also purchased a pack of honey roasted peanuts for $.50 from the little café on the second floor of our building to add some healthy fats and protein to my meal.

Fat: Check! Protein: Check!

This makeshift meal was surprisingly pretty darn good. Drawer food to the rescue!

Before moving on to some giveaway fun, I just wanted to let you know that the Fashion page was updated!

Now let’s get to it.

Funky Monkey Giveaway

As promised, I have a fun giveaway for you guys today! On Tuesday I tried Funky Monkey freeze dried fruit for the first time and loved every sweet, crunchy bite.

Funky Monkey

Along with the delicious flavor and fun texture, I am a big fan of the simple ingredients in the snacks… just freeze dried fruit. That’s it. Win!

Now you have a chance to win a pack of each flavor of Funky Monkey snacks. (You should get seriously psyched for the pineapple guava and apple cinnamon flavors!)

To enter this giveaway, simply comment below with the name of your all-time favorite fruit and your favorite way to enjoy it.

Example: I love bananas and they’re the jam in banana splits!

I will randomly select a winner tomorrow afternoon. GOOD LUCK!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Mango! While studying abroad in Australia I used to buy cases of mango for super cheap. I finally learned how to cut them properly and love them just as they are. The ones in the US just aren’t as (silky?) and sweet as the ones in Australia though.

This is tough, but it’s got to be apples, dried and true! They are a solid standby that are delicious in so many different ways! My indulgence is when I have them with Peanut Butter (I too am a peanut butter addict), but most often I slice one up real thin like a potato chip and have a string cheese with it. Yum! and portable!
