Dru and Carrie’s Rehearsal Dinner

March 25, 2011 by Julie 29 Comments

I love everything about weddings! I think it’s so wonderful to see two people who are so deeply in love choose to be with each other forever. Plus, I enjoy seeing the families of the bride and groom happy and buzzing around as they talk with everyone and express their excitement.

This evening, Ryan and I walked from our hotel to The Morgan House for the rehearsal dinner of our friends Dru and Carrie.

This is the first rehearsal I’ve ever been to (other than ours!), so I was quite excited to see how another couple planned a rehearsal dinner.

The rehearsal dinner took place on the rooftop of the restaurant and overlooked an adorable square in the middle of downtown Ft. Myers.

Ryan and I started the night by grabbing some drinks and appetizers while we mingled with friends.

I had a glass of Riesling and a plate filled with shrimp, some kind of fritters and fresh berries. I also had some goat cheese and a delicious kind of cheese that seemed to have some kind of a raspberry ribbon running through it, but my cheese plate was demolished before I snapped a picture.

Right before dinner, Dru’s dad gave a wonderful toast to Dru and Carrie that focused on the choices everyone makes in their day-to-day lives. I liked it a lot because it made me think about how fortunate I feel that Ryan and I chose each other and how wonderful it is that Carrie and Dru have chosen to become husband and wife and create a life together. Toasts make me so emotional!

Once everyone raised their glasses and drank to the soon-to-be bride and groom, we got in line to fill our plates at the buffet table.

I loaded up on buttery vegetables, salad and some kind of white fish topped with a bizarre-looking nutty topping that I actually really liked! The fish was so moist and flavorful and I practically licked my plate clean.

After dinner, we spent some more time hanging out with the other guests before walking back to our hotel room.

We’re hoping to hit the hay a little early in preparation for a fun wedding tomorrow! I can’t wait!

Hey Julie! You looked beautiful tonight! SO fun! I have been lurking for quite awhile and never commented. I LOVE your blog and wanted to thank you for your post last week about beginning blogging. I have had my own blog for awhile but am ready for more.

I am currently using blogger (ugh) It does the job but I am getting weary of the cookie cutter format and lack of control.

My main question is if you think I should just get a wordpress and domain to start or go ahead and do hosting. It is all kinda unclear to me. Also in your post you mentioned that you didn’t love bluehost…any other suggestions?

Anyway, it would be so great to hear from you!

    Hi Julie!

    Your dress is super cute!

I just wanted to let you know I have been reading and following your blog for quite some time now..and you have motivated me to make a lifestyle change! I have started my own blog to document my attempt to live healthier. I can definitely say that out of all the blogs out there, yours is the one that I HAVE to read every single post, daily.

I don’t know if you have ever posted one, but have you ever done a post with a list of your healthy grocery “staples”…things you have to keep stocked all the time?

You are truly inspiring and I always look forward to your new posts!
