Everybody At FitBloggin’ Was Jumpin’, Jumpin’

July 1, 2013 by Julie 102 Comments

Day two at FitBoggin’  started out airborne!

Trampoline Workout (2)

Everybody in the club at FitBloggin’ was jumpin’, jumpin’! (I still love that Destiny’s Child song. So catchy!)

After breakfast, FitBloggin’ Day Two began with a trampoline workout presented by JumpSport.

Trampoline Workout

Oh my gosh, it was so much fun!!! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the workout was ridiculously sweaty, challenging and incredibly entertaining.

Trampoline Fitness

Gina and I partnered up for the workout and while one of us jumped around on the trampoline, the other did some sort of body weight strength or core exercise such as lunges with a front kick or side crunches. It was tough but the music was totally rockin’ and I felt like I was a 10 year old playing around at recess. It was such a unique and fun workout. I’d gladly do it again if it was ever offered somewhere near me in Ocala!

Workout number two for the day was a CrossFit class presented by Reebok.

Sneakers

I was pretty pumped for the CrossFit workout going into the day, but after the JumpSport workout, I found myself feeling a little relieved when the CrossFit workout was nice and short.

After a short informational session about CrossFit and a quick rundown of proper form, we completed as many rounds of the following exercises as possible in four minutes:

  • 5 push ups
  • 7 sit ups
  • 9 air squats

It was short but sweet!

After CrossFit, there was a three hour break in the FitBloggin’ schedule that allowed attendees to get outside and explore Portland. You better believe I took advantage of this time and headed out into the city.

Portland

First up was a trip to Kure Juice Bar!

Kure Juice Bar

This place was so delicious! It smelled like my kitchen whenever I make a green lemonade smoothie.

I’ve never had juice made with beets before and since I think beets are the jam, I was immediately intrigued by the Farmer’s Favorite.

Carrot + Kale + Beet + Ginger + Lemon

Kure Juice Bar Beet Juice

All juice I’ve previously tried has included some kind of fruit, so I wasn’t sure what I would think, but I thought it was fabulous.

Kure Juice Bar Portland

Julie and Gina

I also bought a peanut butter bar from Kure that was fabulous!

Everyone seemed to rave about their juice and smoothie bowls.

While we sipped our juice, our group walked around Portland before popping into a random hotel to ask for directions to the farmer’s market that we heard so much about from the locals we talked to while we were in the city. The farmer’s market was buzzing with energy and the produce and flowers were stunning!

IMG_2324

I tried the white raspberries and they were a bit sweeter than traditional raspberries. So tasty!

Eventually we decided it was time to head back so we could quickly shower before the afternoon sessions. Plus, the Bachelor fan in me was a little too excited to meet one of the afternoon presenters…

Tenley Molzhan Julie Fagan

Tenley Molzahn!

My fellow Bachelor fans might remember her from the season with Jake and Vienna. (<—Yeesh!) Tenley was such a genuine and sweet person. She was happy to chat with us for a while and made everyone feel at ease around her. I can’t wait to check out her blog!

Tenley attended FitBloggin’ as a presenter with SoyJoy and I enjoyed her discussion about healthy snacking on the go and her gluten-free lifestyle.

Tenley

After Tenley’s talk, we had a brief snack break sponsored by The Laughing Cow.

The Laughing Cow

I had fun chatting with two new blogging friends, Sarah and Kimberly.

Julie and Kimberly

The next session I attended was “Getting Paid vs. Paying Your Dues” led by Leah Segedie of Bookieboo. The topic was addressed in a discussion format, with bloggers posing various questions for other bloggers to weigh in on during the two hours we had together. It was interesting!

Happy Hour + Dinner

Once the final session was over, it was time for happy hour!

photo (3)

Tina, Ericka, Anne, Heather, Gina and I  headed out to grab some drinks at the rooftop bar at our hotel.

A glass of red wine hit the spot after a long day!

Malbec

We had dinner plans at 8 p.m. at The Picnic House, a local restaurant that came highly recommended by a few of you.

The Picnic House Portland IMG_2343-001 IMG_2344

Thank you for always giving me the best restaurant recommendations! I feel like every time I travel anywhere, I always follow your recommendations and you guys never steer me wrong. The Picnic House was fabulous!

The Picnic House Portland

Our group shared a bunch of appetizers and I ordered the rock fish as my entree and ate every bite. It was fantastic!

I absolutely loved my time in Portland. FitBloggin’ was an incredible experience!

Now I’m back in Ocala and am about to head out the door to work. I hope you all had a great weekend!

Question of the Morning

Oh my gosh! You FitBloggin’ ladies look amazing during workouts. I don’t see a drop of sweat!
Really quick – do you know it that type of trampoline workout is something you can find at a gym? Or would someone have to go to a specialty studio to take a class?
    Thanks!

I haven’t personally, but my best friend met Vicki from The Real Housewives and had a picture with her on her phone. She looked SO different when not on TV.

Gah, Tenley really dodged a bullet with Jake not picking her. He seemed like a weirdo

So fun! Especially that trampoline work-out. Love that Destiny’s Child song. It’s still on my i-pod 🙂 I met Sheree from Real Housewives of Atlanta. It was in Philadelphia, and I’d had a few glasses of wine so I thought I might be hallucinating, haha. She was very polite and nice. Then I met Joe and Melissa Gorga from Real Housewives of NJ, who aren’t my favorites, when they hosted at a club in AC, but they were fun and danced in the crowd!

I don’t know how I feel about all these juices, but I guess I’ll have to take your word that they’re good. 🙂 I really want to run the Portland Marathon one year, so I’ll decide for myself then!

Back in March I went on a cruise and just as we were leaving port, I look over to my left and see Heather from Real Housewives of NYC. Real Housewives is my guilty pleasure, so I was way too excited. She was so sweet and looked just like she does on television.

ACTUALLY, the last time I went to the Healthy Living Summit (in Philly), we ran into Ashley from the Bachelorette with her adorable now-husband, JP. They were every bit as sweet in person. I too am a huge Bachelor/Bachelorette fan. I live on Cape Cod and work in the courthouse, one day Chris Lambton from Ali’s season of the Bachelorette came in for jury duty. Everyone I work with knows that Chris was my all time favorite. Once he was done with jury duty one of the on duty court officers lead him to my office. was caught off guard and my face was completely red but I had my picture taken with him and now it’s up on my office wall.
