Return to Jellystone Golden Valley

November 4, 2019 by Julie 22 Comments

Hi friends! Anyone else feeling the effects of the time change today? I remember when the “fall back” time change felt like a gift — an extra hour of sleep! — but those days went out the window when we had kids and now time changes rock my world. Let’s just say we had both…

Weekend at Jellystone Golden Valley

July 29, 2019 by Julie 17 Comments

Soon after Ryan got off work on Friday evening, our family piled into his car and headed off to Golden Valley, North Carolina. We had plans to spend the weekend at Jellystone Park, a 600+ acre park located at the base of of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and arrived a little after 7 p.m. We…

Park City Weekend

June 10, 2019 by Julie 16 Comments

That happy-sad feeling is looming over me after such a wonderful weekend away with three of my best friends of 27+ years in Park City, Utah. It’s a feeling of joy mixed with the post-travel blues that always seem to surface after our trips together that I can only attribute to wishing we had more…

Family Spring Break: Hilton Head Island (Part Two)

April 21, 2019 by Julie 19 Comments

Hey friends! Happy Easter! I hope you’re having a wonderful day so far! Our crew arrived home from Hilton Head Island yesterday in the early afternoon and have spent our Easter as a family of five (Sadie always included)! Despite an Easter with no real commitments, we’ve managed to fill our day hunting for Easter…

Family Spring Break: Hilton Head Island

April 18, 2019 by Julie 39 Comments

Hello from sunny Hilton Head Island! We’re on the homestretch of our family’s spring break trip to the beautiful South Carolina island and we’ve been making the most of our time away from home. We rented a house we found on VRBO and it is within walking distance of the beach which has been fabulous!…

Gatlinburg in a Flash

March 18, 2019 by Julie 29 Comments

Our trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee was a whirlwind. It came together at the last minute — we booked our hotel last Monday — and we made the most of our mini vacation! Early last week, Ryan and I were both hit with the desire to go on a quick family adventure and centered our planning…

Instagram post 2191873802065169562_40044681 Slow Cooker Holiday Mulled Wine: The simple, low-maintenance, crowd-pleasing holiday beverage you've been looking for to make for your next holiday party! 🍷✨ This is my go-to recipe because it's warm and comforting and just sweet and cinnamon-y enough to feel like a festive holiday drink. ⠀
⠀
Here are the steps:⠀
⠀
Throw everything into a slow cooker⠀
Allow mulled wine to warm up on “low” for an hour⠀
Reduce to “warm” and top with a sprinkle of thinly-sliced oranges and cranberries⠀
Walk away and enjoy your party⠀
⠀
And the ingredient list is simple, too! Find the full recipe on the blog here: https://www.pbfingers.com/slow-cooker-holiday-mulled-wine/⠀
⠀
Oh and please do not feel the need to splurge on an expensive red wine for this recipe! I once had a sommelier friend of mine tell me that when it comes to making mulled wine, simply choose a red wine you like to drink. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy but it simply has to appeal to you without all of the added ingredients that morph it into a deliciously sweet holiday favorite. For this batch, I made the Slow Cooker Holiday Mulled Wine with a $6.99 bottle of Wellsley Farms’ Cabernet Sauvignon from @bjswholesale. Once you pour it into the slow cooker and fancy it up with thinly-sliced oranges 🍊 and pops of cranberry, no one will know you used a bottle of wine that cost less than $7 in the recipe anyway! Enjoy!!! #ad #mulledwine #holidaydrinks #holidayrecipes #slowcooker
