Everybody At FitBloggin’ Was Jumpin’, Jumpin’

Day two at FitBoggin’  started out airborne!

Everybody in the club at FitBloggin’ was jumpin’, jumpin’! (I still love that Destiny’s Child song. So catchy!)

After breakfast, FitBloggin’ Day Two began with a trampoline workout presented by JumpSport.

Oh my gosh, it was so much fun!!! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the workout was ridiculously sweaty, challenging and incredibly entertaining.

Gina and I partnered up for the workout and while one of us jumped around on the trampoline, the other did some sort of body weight strength or core exercise such as lunges with a front kick or side crunches. It was tough but the music was totally rockin’ and I felt like I was a 10 year old playing around at recess. It was such a unique and fun workout. I’d gladly do it again if it was ever offered somewhere near me in Ocala!

Workout number two for the day was a CrossFit class presented by Reebok.

I was pretty pumped for the CrossFit workout going into the day, but after the JumpSport workout, I found myself feeling a little relieved when the CrossFit workout was nice and short.

After a short informational session about CrossFit and a quick rundown of proper form, we completed as many rounds of the following exercises as possible in four minutes:

  • 5 push ups
  • 7 sit ups
  • 9 air squats

It was short but sweet!

After CrossFit, there was a three hour break in the FitBloggin’ schedule that allowed attendees to get outside and explore Portland. You better believe I took advantage of this time and headed out into the city.

First up was a trip to Kure Juice Bar!

This place was so delicious! It smelled like my kitchen whenever I make a green lemonade smoothie. 

I’ve never had juice made with beets before and since I think beets are the jam, I was immediately intrigued by the Farmer’s Favorite.

All juice I’ve previously tried has included some kind of fruit, so I wasn’t sure what I would think, but I thought it was fabulous.

I also bought a peanut butter bar from Kure that was fabulous!

Everyone seemed to rave about their juice and smoothie bowls.

While we sipped our juice, our group walked around Portland before popping into a random hotel to ask for directions to the farmer’s market that we heard so much about from the locals we talked to while we were in the city. The farmer’s market was buzzing with energy and the produce and flowers were stunning!

I tried the white raspberries and they were a bit sweeter than traditional raspberries. So tasty!

Eventually we decided it was time to head back so we could quickly shower before the afternoon sessions. Plus, the Bachelor fan in me was a little too excited to meet one of the afternoon presenters…

Tenley Molzahn!

My fellow Bachelor fans might remember her from the season with Jake and Vienna. (<—Yeesh!) Tenley was such a genuine and sweet person. She was happy to chat with us for a while and made everyone feel at ease around her. I can’t wait to check out her blog! 

Tenley attended FitBloggin’ as a presenter with SoyJoy and I enjoyed her discussion about healthy snacking on the go and her gluten-free lifestyle.

After Tenley’s talk, we had a brief snack break sponsored by The Laughing Cow.

The next session I attended was “Getting Paid vs. Paying Your Dues” led by Leah Segedie of Bookieboo. The topic was addressed in a discussion format, with bloggers posing various questions for other bloggers to weigh in on during the two hours we had together. It was interesting!

Happy Hour + Dinner

Once the final session was over, it was time for happy hour!

We had dinner plans at 8 p.m. at The Picnic House, a local restaurant that came highly recommended by a few of you.

Thank you for always giving me the best restaurant recommendations! I feel like every time I travel anywhere, I always follow your recommendations and you guys never steer me wrong. The Picnic House was fabulous!

Our group shared a bunch of appetizers and I ordered the rock fish as my entree and ate every bite. It was fantastic!

I absolutely loved my time in Portland. FitBloggin’ was an incredible experience!

Now I’m back in Ocala and am about to head out the door to work. I hope you all had a great weekend!

    The trampoline workout sounds like a blast! What a fun way to change things up. The Farmers Market looks like it was awesome. Markets are definitely one of my favorite things to check out in a new city – one of the best ways to discover the local flavors.

    oh, wait! I saw Tony Orlando at the Woodstock Fair last yer. Please tell me someone on this Blog remembers him. My 21 year old step son had NO idea who he was. I was like” Tony Orlando and Dawn?” Blank stare – LOL

    Looks like an awesome weekend! My boyfriend actually said he saw Ben (from this season’s Bachelorette) this weekend while he was working! He didn’t get a picture or talk to him about the show because no one else he works with watches the show (lame, right?) so nobody recognized him so he wasn’t sure if it was Ben or not. (He told his coworkers that I “make” him watch the show, pfffft) Then later he did some twitter creepin’ and found out it was him!

    This conference sounds like so much fun! It’s awesome that you got to meet a celebrity you admire, too. I was able to see Stephen King at the premiere showing of his new miniseries, Under the Dome, a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic! I totally wore one of his t-shirts and brought one of his books and pen, which is how I was able to sneak in for free without tickets. It was incredible!

    I would love to try a trampoline workout! That looks like so much fun. I have seen a few celebrities in person and, with the exception of sports stars, I am always shocked at how short they are lol

    Trampoline workouts are great! I used to be a gymnast so I know alllll about do exercises on a trampoline. Your weekend looks like it was filled fun and healthy things.
    Your dress for dinner is beautiful! Where did you get it?
    I don’t know if this counts, but I saw the whole Cleveland Cavaliers team around Christmas five years ago. LeBron James was there and he hugged me. Pretty cool even though I don’t really like him hah!

    Despite not going to the conference, I’m glad it was in Portland because now I have new places to try here! Kure looks great and I’ve heard good things from others too, but I’ve never even heard of Picnic House!! I feel like a terrible food snob failure. Thanks for the recommendation! Glad you had a great time in my lovely city!

    Wow! That trampoline workout looks like a blast! I’ve never seen anything like it! I’ve never met anyone from a reality show, although Mr. Belding from “Saved By the Bell” did come to my middle school and talk to us about saying no to drugs. Sadly, that’s my best celebrity sighting.

    Looks like such an amazing time! I used to have a trampoline growing up and I swear that thing was like the ultimate workout, plus you have a ton of fun on it. Can’t complain when you have a blast working out.

    That looks like such a fun and informative conference! What a wonderful opportunity–plus icing on the cake that you were able to meet a celebrity! I’ve met 5 of the contestants from the Biggest Loser, which is awesome! I hope to meet more! And totally random, but I was on the Wheel of Fortune back in 2008, so I met Pat and Vanna. It was AWESOME!

    Met someone from reality TV, no, but Snooki did speak at my school one year…interesting to say the least! haha I have met a handful of professional athletes though and several music artists.

    I would use the $100 gift card for a pair of functional training shoes. I currently use my “dead” running shoes and would definitely benefit from a better type of shoe for my gym workouts.

    I am a reality tv “celeb” stalker! I met Bachelor Bob Guiney before he was on the bachelor and twice after at different events AND I met Chris and Kerry from Real World Chicago and Collin from Real World Hawaii.

    I must admit I still love the Real World! Every time I visit a town with a Real World house, I make an effort to snap a quick pic!

    OMG, that’s my face! On Julie’s blog!!! LOL! It was so great to meet you in person, you are just as sweet in real life as you seem to be here on your blog and it was great chatting with you – “you always get the fish” haha! I will say that you are taller than I expected, but I think Ryan is probably just REALLY tall 😀 I am so glad you enjoyed Portland, and somehow I’ve never heard of The Picnic House so it’s going on our never-ending list of places to try! So sad I missed the trampoline class, I hope they’ll be there next year, and hopefully I’ll see you there next year too!

    I really want to attend a blogging conference soon. I would learn so much plus it would be fun to meet those who I follow. I’ve heard Portland is awesome, especially their farmer’s markets. That workout looks like it would get your heart pumping. I love those kind! 🙂

    Wow, this conference seems like a blast, I’m definately signing up for next year! Living in the NY area I often bump into reality stars and it’s amazing seeing them in person, b/c sometimes they are not as sweet as they depict themselves on tv, but the best part is knowing that we all walk the same path in some way or the other…we are all part of someone’s reality ;0
