Fingers and Toes: Matching or No?

June 23, 2011 by Julie 94 Comments

In an effort to use up the chicken we had in our fridge before our weekend vacation to Atlanta, dinner tonight included freezer food + chicken!

I topped a Newman’s Own thin and crispy white pizza with chopped chicken breasts and split the pizza with Ryan.

Holy moly this pizza was good. I’m not sure what is in the white sauce that was on the Newman’s Own pizza, but it was smokin’!

Ryan and I ate our pizzas while missing Sadie. I think we’re a little too used to her grubby little face being all up in our business as we eat. Charming.

Fingers and Toes

After dinner, in preparation for our weekend in Atlanta, I gave myself an at-Okay, so I just painted my toes and slapped some of those new Sally Hansen salon effects nail polish strips on my fingers home manicure and pedicure.

newmans own white pizza 009

(Side note: I’m not sure how it’s possible to have a freakishly small ring size – I’m a 4.5 – and still have manly looking hands. Somehow I defy the odds.)

The salon effects strips for your nails are pretty cool, but I think my lack of nail care experience made them harder for me to work with than they should’ve been.  My nails already look a little peely, and I know many other people who have used the strips and they’ve turned out perfectly. A few extra strips came in the kit so I may do some repairs in the car en route to Atlanta tomorrow.

When my nails were done I realized that while both my finger and toenails were pink, I made sure to make them different shades of pink. For some reason I am not a fan of matchy matchy fingers and toes. Is this weird?

Time to pack. Groooooooooan.

I’m the same way as Steph, I’ll always go a little more outrageous with my toe color. I also am a huge fan of french pedicures, but could really care less about french manicures. Matchy matchy is sometimes ok, but if I won’t go matchy matchy, I won’t even try to go close to it, I’d rather be totally different than being of a similar color but off by like, 3 shades. Inner OCD nail lady coming out? Now and then.

Your mouse story this morning was super creepy! I feel so bad for you guys!

Ok so I have to ask, because we seem to be around the same size and our men are both much larger than us, but do you ever feel like you are eating the SAME amount of food as Ryan? I do a lot more cardio than Paul, but he lifts a ton of weights, and I always feel like I am eating the same amount of food as him at meals. For example, that pizza you had for dinner, we would probably split it half and half! Is is just me?! 🙂

honestly, a lot of the time our meals sizes are the same, but he eats larger snacks than i do… or the protein portion of his meal will be 2x mine. like, for this pizza, we split the pizza down the middle, but he had an EXTRA chicken breast on the side. 🙂 the man loves his protein.

Lindsey! I have the same issue, my husband and I eat similar size portions! He defintely snacks more than I do, but I still think it’s crazy! I mean, he’s a good 60 lbs heavier than me lol. I honestly just out ate him in a ravioli dinner 🙂

sorry to jump in on this one, i’m single at the moment, but i’ve got lots of guy friends and i always seem to be eating the same as them! i think you’re all right in they must snack more than me/us but i often ask them, “so you’re full off of what you just ate for dinner?” and they yes but it mystifies me because i ate the same amount (if not more) and could still go for more! just glad to hear i’m not alone. 🙂

I’m not a matchy-matchy girl, either (I might do bright red on fingers and toes if I REALLY wanted the bold statement, but that would be rare). I do like my fingers and toes to compliment each other, and I usually do one light color and one darker color.

I want to try those Sally Hansen strips, I’ve seen some nice DIY manicures!

It seems like a lot of people like to have the polish on their toes and nails matching, but I am not one of them.

I usually pick a brighter/bolder color for my toes and have something more neutral on my hands. Although right now my fingers have a pretty bright pink of them. I painted them a fun color for my marathon last Saturday!

That’s the color of Sally Hansen nails I can’t find! Where did you find them? The other colors kind of scare me. I don’t need to look like a hooker at work.

I don’t think you have manly hands at all – they actually look similar to mine and I was once told I could be a hand model (TRUE STORY – although that person *might* have been high. There’s no telling.)

I don’t match either. I Usually like more fun colors on my toes and a pale pink on my hands. I tend to get annoyed quickly by bright colors on my hands.

I LOVE the sally Hansen nail polish strips. I’ve only tried metallic colors which I read are a little easier to apply. Also if you stretch them a bit once you get the initial stick, I’ve noticed they look a little better. Either way it takes some practice!!

I mix i up depending on my mood. My nails are always a french manicure, never white though, I have to have color. My favorite is blue tips and blue toes. I was blessed with my mom’s hands and nails. Polish always looks good. However, while people assume I’m a lot younger then I am, my hands give me away everytime. Not sure if that is good or bad.

I think your nails look good!! I like the colors and I’ve been wanting to try those too. I also do the same thing (if i even paint my finger nails), I usually pick a color that will go well with whats on my toes, but isn’t the same. I have a light and dark purple combo (called Fig and Prune, actually) that I like to use. And then cover both of them with a clear shimmer polish. I’m not addicted to sparkles, I swear.

I love your ring almost as much as I love mine! 😉 I think my ring size is a 4.75. When my hubby proposed, I’d told him I was a 7 (for some reason I thought it was the same as my shoe size… I have no idea why).

Sometimes, when I get a new color I really like, I’ll do my hands and toes the same. I don’t paint my fingernails much because they chip right away but I like glittery ones for nails because they don’t seem to show chips as much.

I didn’t realize it was the odd thing to do until a guy friend pointed out that my “toes don’t match [my] fingers!” 🙁 but of course I argued, “of course they do! French tip and teal?
