Five Easy Snack Duos

September 2, 2015 by Julie 689 Comments

If you are looking for simple snack solutions that will keep you satisfied but take almost no time to prepare, I think today’s afternoon post will appeal to you! Ever since Chase came into the world at the end of July, I quickly understood why moms would often say they have to eat as fast as possible. These days I am never sure how long I’ll have to eat before Chase needs me and I find myself gravitating toward easy-to-eat foods more than I ever have before. Here are five easy snack duos to try!

Five Easy Snack Duos

I’m still trying my best to make smart decisions when it comes to snacking and typically opt for food combinations that include a healthy dose of protein, fat and carbohydrates since I know this will keep me satisfied for much longer. Today I’m teaming up with CVS to share some ideas for filling snack pairings you can easily assemble when you’re limited on time!

Five Easy Snack Duos

  • Greek Yogurt + Almonds

greek yogurt and almonds

Greek yogurt has been a snacktime favorite of mine for years. With so many different flavors available these days, it’s easy to eat this one frequently without ever getting sick of it. Topping a cup of the yogurt with nuts adds a crunchy texture and a dose of healthy fats that helps keep me feeling satisfied.

  • Cottage Cheese + Dried Fruit

Cottage Cheese and Cranberries

As a big-time fan of sweet and salty flavor combinations, this duo is a big-time favorite. Cottage cheese is a great source of satiating protein and sprinkling a bowl with dried fruit only amps up the flavor!

  • Granola Bar + Nut Butter

granola bar and peanut butter

Spreading peanut butter (or any nut butter!) on top of a granola bar seriously enhances the flavor! Plus, the addition of nut butter adds creaminess, protein and healthy fat to this delicious snack.

  • Air Popped Popcorn + Trail Mix

popcorn and trail mix

popcorn trail mix

I love this combination because I can eat an entire bag of trail mix in one sitting if I’m not thinking about it. By adding fiber-rich air popped popcorn to the mix, I am able to amp up the volume of trail mix without eating my bodyweight in the higher-calorie trail mix staples like nuts, dried fruit and chocolate pieces. Plus, the flavor combinations in this particular duo are endless!

  • Fresh Fruit + Mixed Nuts

Apple and Nuts

This one has been a staple of mine for years and with good reason. It’s perfectly portable, making it a great option for on-the-go nutritious snacking.

Giveaway

Now it’s giveaway time! If any of the above snack pairings appeal to you, I think you’ll enjoy this giveaway from CVS for a $100 gift card!

You can use the gift card toward anything at CVS and I highly recommend stocking up on some of the tasty snacks from their Gold Emblem Abound line. All of the ingredients in CVS’ Gold Emblem Abound snacks are totally recognizable (no artificial preservatives and flavors) and whether you prefer something sweet or savory, you’ll have no trouble finding a delicious snack you’ll love.

To enter this giveaway, please leave a comment on this blog post telling me about one of your favorite snack pairings. I’ll randomly select a giveaway winner on Friday morning.

Good luck!

I have been eating a ton of cottage cheese lately. I love it for breakfast or a snack with fruit and cereal. It’s a great way to satisfy a craving for cereal without eating a whole bowl!

Apples/Cinnamon/Almond butter til the day I die.

I slice/core an apple, sprinkle some ground cinnamon on it and throw a scoop of Justin’s almond butter on top…then nuke it for about 45 seconds so it’s just a little warm and makes it super aromatic.

dang. I kinda want that now.

This past month I’ve been addicted to dates with almond butter or a creamy cheese. I simply slice some dates down the middle and then spread 1-2 TBSP of almond butter among the dates. Something about this combination is to die for. Another favorite is the dates with saint Angel cheese. It’s a triple creme and is just amazing! I know you love cheese as well, I promise if you try it you’ll be addicted!
