Food Poisoning

October 28, 2010 by Julie 114 Comments

Wanna know how to make a bride extremely nervous two days before her wedding day?

Give her a bout of food poisoning that makes her puke all day long.

I’m really not sure what is going on with my stomach today, but I have been throwing up since 10 a.m. šŸ™ I seriously never get sick *knock on wood* and all of my symptoms point to food poisoning.

I blame all of the peanut butter cookie dough from last night. As I mentioned in my evening post yesterday, I ate a ton of dough. There were raw eggs in the dough, which doesn’t bode well.

Fortunately I am feeling a tiny bit better now. I feel okay enough to work on the computer a bit and bust out some emails to wedding vendors, but whenever I stand up or think about food, I feel instantly nauseous.

I wanted to pop in really quick to give you guys an update. Hopefully I’ll feel like myself later tonight because I have three of my best girlfriends spending the night with me at my parent’s house. I have really been looking forward to a fun night of girl time so my finger’s are crossed for the return of healthy Julie!

I hope you guys are doing well… and remember, say no to dough (at least the kind with raw eggs in it!). šŸ˜‰

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I started getting a bad upset stomach the day/night of my rehearsal dinner due to major nerves – not about getting married, but just about everything going right. I was so excited about all the good food for the rehearsal dinner and bridesmaid brunch but my stomach wasn’t having any of that… different story after the ceremony, I enjoyed the reception food! Try to relax as much as you can, I know it’s really hard to. Having your friends to visit with should help!

Hope you feel better! Luckily, there is a few days before the wedding so hopefully, you will be back to your healthy self at the wedding. But as I remember from my wedding, there are always a ton of details to take care of beforehand. Glad that you have lots of friends and family to help you with those little details.

Aww, Julie, I’m so sorry to hear that you’re not feeling well! Raw cookie dough is SO delicious, but oh so problematic when you get a bad egg (it happened to me last year–not fun!).

I’m sending happy tummy vibes your way! Feel better soon!

My maid of honor became very sick the day of the wedding. The doctor actually called in an antinausea medication for her. If you are still feeling sick tomorrow for the rehearsal dinner you may want to consider asking your doctor about that option. It is amazing, It really takes all the stomach pain away!!

First, your blog is so cute! šŸ™‚

A word of warning, I used to be an avid consumer of cookie dough (with eggs naturally), and then I got horribly sick after one such indulgence, I thought I was going to puke my entire body out. Unfortunately it didn’t stop there, I started getting sick after every few days for weeks on end. After a doctor’s visit I found out I was allergic to eggs. I’ve never been allergic to eggs so this came as a shock. Apparently, it is possible to eat a bad egg and then your body will continue attacking any eggs it sees. Rare, but it happens.

Trust me, stay away from raw eggs, giving up pastries and eggs is such a pain.

I LOVE dough as well, but once I got salmonella from eating it (like you!) and so now I only bake with “fake eggs”- like Better ‘n Eggs – because they’re pasturized. YOu can eat dough without fear of pesky bacteria!!

    I hope you feel better!

    Don’t get dehydrated!

And I second the advice about the anti-nausea medication. I took some when I was sick and on an antibiotic and it worked wonders.

Keeping you in my thoughts. Feel better soon!

I’ve been victim to the “too-much-dough” before. For me, it went away within a day, so I think (/hope/pray) you’ll be better in a jif. šŸ™‚
