Home for the Holidays

December 21, 2011 by Julie 37 Comments

We’re home for Christmas!

Early this evening, Ryan, Sadie and I arrived at my parents’ house in St. Pete.

christmas tree 001-1

We will be spending the holiday with both of our families – lots of back and forth between St. Pete and Sarasota over the next few days!

Ryan and I are used to eating dinner a little earlier than my family, so when we arrived, we were starving!

We both snacked a lot and the fact that my mom had seven different kinds of homemade cookies on hand didn’t bode well for my ravenous appetite.

I immediately downed three cookies and then ate three more before we actually sat down to dinner. Quite the appetizer, huh?

Dinner was worth the wait though and when we finally sat down, I filled my plate with homemade lasagna, salad and a wheat roll.

And now I am stuffed and in a bit of a sugar coma.

Time to bum around on the couch with my family. It feels good to be home!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

No worries. I pretty much ate ice cream for dinner since we were shopping with my in-laws at CostCo, and as we were checking out I noticed you could get a huge cone of gelato for $1.50 (10 points to CostCo for being cheap). My husband made me eat a little chicken once we got home so I could have something nutritious in my belly.

Enjoy your Christmas at home! Also thanks for the white chocolate peppermint popcorn recipe!!! Just made some tonight as part of my Christmas gifts 🙂

Hehe I also am at home and also ate quite a few cookies today! I mean, you’ve got to sample them all right? And then get seconds on the best ones? Before they run out?
    Haha!

My family also has like 10 different kinds of baked goods. It’s awesome, I’m trying to enjoy them while they last but not put myself in a sugar coma every night!

Love the Christmas tree, it is so pretty 🙂

A couple of questions for you today – how do you pronounce Sarasota? Sarah-sota? Sarra-sota?

Next question is about your jump rope workout – I workout from home and I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to what I could replace the kettlebell swings with?

Sorry, just thought of another question – as I was back-reading I came across the post called Manly Man. Ryan’s list cracked me up, I loved the drinking out of a straw. Are there any new additions since your walking the 2 tiny fluffy puppies?

I hope this comes off the right way (positive) — I smiled when I saw the photo of your family’s Christmas tree because it’s so REAL. It’s not too perfect, it looks as though it’s covered in ornaments with meaning (I bet some are from childhood!), and nothing is “foo foo”. While I’m a fan of “foo foo” in a lot of other areas, I just love the look of a homey, real, family Christmas tree!
