I Ate It and Remade It

May 18, 2011 by Julie 62 Comments

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it 5,000 times more… I love BodyPump!

It felt so good to be back in the gym taking my all-time favorite group exercise class after more than two weeks away. I must admit I was a little nervous about how the class would go and whether or not I’d be able to handle the load of my typical weights.

Good news! I powered through and left the class feeling strong, but with very fatigued muscles. I have a feeling I’ll be sore tomorrow.

After the gym, Ryan and I came home and took Sadie on a one-mile walk before breakfast.

Breakfast

Last night I prepped a bowl of uber chocolaty overnight oats as I was packing my lunch. About 20 minutes before bed, I opened the fridge for a glass of water when my bowl of overnight oats stared back at me.

“Eat me,” it beckoned. “I’m soooo chocolaty and delicious!”

Not one to ignore the coaxing of breakfast foods, I ate it up. Having just demolished my breakfast before bed, I obviously had to remake my oats last night.

Today’s breakfast was uber chocolaty overnight oats: round two!

It was just as good as round one and I was glad I took the time to remake it after scarfing down the original bowl.

I topped my overnight oats with frozen banana slices and enjoyed them along with a small bowl of raw cashews that I ended up dumping into the bowl of overnight oats as well.

Raw cashews are good. And I am a tool.

This meal felt extra special because I ate it with the nifty spoon I nabbed as a free gift from Bucherer in Switzerland.

Remember???

lugano to lucerne 133

Aw, now I wanna go back. Switzerland was seriously unreal. I miss the mountains!

Unfortunately instead of hiking up Mount Pilatus today, I’ll be heading off to work, which is almost as fun.

I’ll be back for lunch!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I made overnight chocolate oats for breakfast too! I feel like I’m eating dessert for breakfast and there’s certainly nothin’ wrong with that 🙂

I usually sneak a few bites of breakfast if I make it the night before — same with my lunches! Poor Jason used to go to work with a sandwich with a bite taken out of it 🙂

    Cashews are my favorite!

And I always have that problem when I’m preparing meals for the next day right before I go to bed. I always want to eat it all up! This sounds gross, but I wear a retainer to bed (so glam), so I only prepare food after I’ve put it in! That nixes all snacking 🙂

I felt the same about BodyPump after I’d been on holiday. I was impressed at how much strength I’d retained despite doing minimal exercise for two weeks.

God I love overnight oats lol…I feel the same way after I make mine the night before, but I have to say I never gave into the oats before the next morning… you’re so funny! I showed my mom the Globus tour you took and she has been e-mailing me non stop about it…I think I put the bug in her butt and she wants to go ASAP!

Hey Julie! So this is a random idea unrelated to the content of this post, but I was wondering if you would consider writing a “Weight Training for Dummies” post sometime? I’m completely new to weight training and honestly all of the machines and weights, surrounded by burly men, intimidate me! The foreignness of it makes me want to run off to the cardio section and stay in my comfort zone. I’d be interesting in learning the foundations of weight training and even the basic machines/moves that are good for beginners. Just an idea! Thanks!
